  • yea it s funky too but hes speaking of what it is right now just like back then

  • Curtis Mayfield is the best. I'm only 29 years old but listening to his music and growing up in the hood really can make me relate to his day and time back then. I guess much has not changed in the world if he was singing about this bull!@#% back in the old days.We all just have to pray for a better day.

  • @MrChevy205 right with ya. I'm 35 and Curtis is in my top 5 fo sho. It's like the industry is conditioning sheep for the slaughter. What happened? It's up to us to bring it the way it's supposed to be.

  • This tune couldn't be any more relevant when I look at the economic situation in the UK and the U.S., but then we are listening to the genius that is the late great Curtis Mayfield.

  • "There's gonna be a killing after midnight"

Thanks to this awesome jam, which Geto Boys sampled, their song "Murder After Midnight" became a classic.

Much respect to the original forefathers of hip-hop that laid the foundation for the sampling resources that recreated them to more modern equipment and treatment!

  • CAN YOU DIG IT?!

  • @MR666SANDMAN Yes and the Warriors didn't shoot Cyrus damnit ;-)

  • @MR666SANDMAN I can dig it, dig?

  • @MR666SANDMAN i can dig it

  • so who sampled who baby huey or curtis mayfiled def love both songs though lol

  • @Tazrahzeljr - Curtis signed Baby Huey to Curtom Records and (I think) produced 'The Baby Huey Story', so I guess the song was probably owned by Curtom Records.

  • @0rangesk7, he did produce baby huey story, and baby huey also covered a version of this song, and Huey's version has more beat to it. After Baby Huey died in 1971, the album was finally released

  • LISTEN THE FUCKN LYRICS!!!!! SRT8 REAL SHIT.....SUPER SAD BUT TRUE. I BUMP THIS ALL THE TIME AND EVERYTIME I TEAR MY ASS OFF BECAUSE I KNOW WHAT ITS LIKE STUGGLN N MY BROTHAS N SISTAS OUT AROUND THE WORLD STARVIN FOR FOOD AND STILL GET MISTREATED. ALSO SEEING BLK FOLKS STILL DOGGING EACH OTHER WORSE THN THE MAN HIMSELF. IN THIS DAY N AGE WE ARE STILL DOING THE SAME CRAP WHILE EVRYBODY ELSE IS GETTING OVER ONE STEP AT A TIME. WE NEED MORE MUSIC LIKE THIS TO SPREAD REALISM, LOVE, UNITY, ETC

  • smooth melody but real life lyrics!!!
