@speedogg138 I've always been kind of skeptical buying watches on ebay, with all the fakes out there is there a way to check if the watch is actually real?
I need help finding the 2254.50.00 model, Omega's site says its no longer available, anyone know where/if you can get a new one some where? Also anyone know where to get the sea master 2531.80.00 "James Bond" model? Their site says that is also no longer available, any help would be greatly appreciated!
I have the very same watch for over 5 years with absolutely no trouble. It is still immaculate and worn most days as my everyday watch. Very robust and easily polished with a Cape Cod polishing cloth! Looks great casual and as a dress watch. I reserve my Pam 164&177 Titanium, Rolex Submariner and Tag Monaco for specific occasions! This is probably still my favourite watch and will be a timeless classic in years to come!! Now discontinued but can still be picked up for circa £1500.00! INVESTMENT!
@marcorosso13 has the omega been reliable? I have a Tag at the moment but the crown stuffed up and now the date doesn't turn over. I do use it when mountain biking and the lady at the shop said that would probarbly have ruined it! Does that sound right to you? I think i will get an omega like this next and look after it a bit better. Are these kinds of watches really dress watches that you have to be a bit gentle with?
Beautiful watch. Considering the price of a Rolex Submariner the Omega Seamaster is an excellent value at 1/3 of the price and you lose none of the function or looks.
I have one just like this one but with the blue dial, yes I have worn it daily for the past 7 years, go swimming , diving, climbing, etc with it. it gets beat to heck and after 4-5 years you send it back to omega for a full service and they mail it back looking like new. imho scratches add to the character, lets people know it's not just a decoration.
@bronx43 The Seamaster is more of a 'daily beater', its designed for practicality, its waterproof and shockproof. Omega watches have extensive testing in the factory for their durability before being shipped, they had an article in GQ about the quality control at an Omega factory and I can tell you it was very impressive. Scratches are to be expected but a watch like this is designed for it - precious gold watches are definitely more fragile but I hope you're not diving with a Must De Cartier.
dive all over the south coast of GB and also the north west.... a short trip away is egypt and the red sea, off for a weeks liveaboard touring the northern wrecks (including the thistlegorm) and reefs in april! will dive my suunto and seiko orange monster and leave my omega at home!
@jeep4jeep - nice! i dive suunto as i like the algorythems! I also dive a seiko orange monster! great lume, love the organe face, which when diving cold british waters at 40m shine a light grey with the indices shining bright white instead of usual green! a great automatic dive watch - and the bezel is much easier to use/smoother with dive gloves.... compliments my suunto computer! leave my omega for business meetings and formal occasions!
I have the Omega Seamaster Professional Chronometer automatic. My Omega has a watch number: 80655666 and I wear it every day.
It cost me £1100 in 2004 from Ernest Jones here in Birmingham, UK but it was definately worth it as it's a great watch. Mine has the skeleton hour and minute hands, a double bar at 12 o'clock, a single bar at 6 & 9 o'clock, date window & small bar at 3 o'clock & dots at the 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10 & 11 o'clock positions.
@rocknrollrocks98 Fraid so, Omega and rolex use the same mechanism made by ETA in Swizerland, but Omega have won more acolades and history and pedigree than Rolex, Omega the ONLY watch worn on the moon
@rocknrollrocks98@rocknrollrocks98 Fraid so, Omega and rolex use the same mechanism made by ETA in Swizerland, but Omega have won more acolades and history and pedigree than Rolex, Omega the ONLY watch worn on the moon
@SpinnaXL Nice language. You should be really proud of yourself.Your parents did a pretty good job on your upbringing. If you think that i troll this is your problem, not mine. And,by the way,i wear a cartier santos, not timex.Have a nice day.
So what are you saying? That it's fake? Omega has their preferred network of dealers but when those dealers can't sell the watch at MSRP, they sell them to other dealers who sell them cheaper.
Did u buy it on the internet? are you sure is not fake? I'll post soon a watch that I bought from Honk Kong and should be here in 5 more days... It's a Rolex ltd ed. I'll let you know. BTW, nice watch!!
Nice timepiece! Last rrp for this model was £1390.00. The only Seamaster Automatic's available now have Co-Axial movements (which supposedly keep better time). I've just bought a Seamaster Quartz black dial/bezel ref 212.30.41.61.01.001.
I had the Blue face model,, automatic,,, I sold it when i bought my speedmaster,,, I wish i hadnt got rid of it. Was sucha great watch. But i have the Omega Speedmaster Chrono Moonwatch w/ sapph crystal and sapph exibition back.,,, also go the black faced Tag Heuer Monaco,, steve mcqueen model
Wow,,,, beautiful collection!!! Watch time magazine did a great article on the creation of the Big Bang. Great collection!!! I plan on adding to my collection next year,,, i would like a Zenith
Couple of other things: Enjoy this watch. It really is a classic. I only wear mine on special ocassions and ALWAYS wash it in lukewarm, soapy water every time before I wear it. Forget Rolex! The ONLY reason Rolex's are so expensive is that they use a higher grade of steel(904L) than Omega(316L). Is it worth an EXTRA30-40% for something that adds NO added value to the watch in my opinion, NO...lol. Rolex has lost their minds on the price of their watches! Omega ALL THE WAY! Questions? Ask :)
In your opinion maybe, it also happens to be at least $1,000 more. You are not comparing apples to apples. I'm sure there are some Patek Philippe's out there too that are better, so what?
I own this model myself and the only problem I have with it is the clasp gets scratched so easily. Did read somewhere online that you can get some sort of pad to rub it with and it removes the scratches and restores the brushed finish. Not to be overused though. Outstanding watch other than that.
This model has been removed because they are re-introducing to the public with a co-axial movement. No coincidence that the new movemnt will also bump the price tag up by around $1000. I got this infor from an Omega dealer around 2 months ago and I think 2 weeks ago, Omega removed it from it's site page.

I don't know if it is a knock off. Personally, from what I was able to gather from your short is that it is authentic. I believe the serial numbers were there and the lugs looked nice. However, I don't believe it was brand new. Perhaps refurbished. I am only speculating, but Never seen a new Swiss watch where bar codes were stuck on the houseing. It didn't have the familiar "red line wear indicator". Also, no red dot. New Omegas have this to indicate an unopened back when it left the factory.
To All Watch Can some 1 reply me this qns"is there value keeping an omega watch??as in if you buy it today at 3k mayb 10 years later or so it worth more? I am considering buying omega watch as a collection and also an investment
no, omega don't have a great resale value, because they don't have an 100% inhouse movement. Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, Hublot, Rolex or Jaeger Lecoutre are examples of wacth brands that have a great resale value. Ulysse Nardin is probably one of the best choice if you want to make an investment because they produce in very limited quantities and have many special exclusive editions. However, watches are quite hard to sell back, so I wouldn't buy watches as an investment.
i got mine 6 months ago..really nice watch and good for daily use, u will never go wrong with this watch. I actually prefer this more then Rollie subs due to price and reliability
For $1,200.00 You either got a Quartz Omega Seamaster, which is less expensive and NOT the same thing. It's an electronic movement vs swiss automatic mechanical. OR you got one of the higher quality Omega knock offs. So either way you slice it, the only sucker here is probably you.
Can anybody find a GOOD price from an authorized dealer on this watch? I don't want a grey market watch and I shudder to pay full retail for ANYTHING.... much less an expensive watch... $2000+
Nice. I have the blue one, coaxial. I hope you ordered yours from an authorized dealer and not on the internet. Omega, like any other Swiss watch company, won't warranty it unless purchased as such.
Looks good for a fake!

Great watch, I plan on getting one of these myself soon. Possibly the 007 version 2222.80.00. Good luck with yours, I'm sure you're loving it!

I bought mine a few years ago. Discounted from $1,500 to $1,200....12 month interest free payment plan.......SUCKERS!!!!!!

For $1,200.00 You either got a Quartz Omega Seamaster, which is less expensive and NOT the same thing. It's an electronic movement vs swiss automatic mechanical. OR you got one of the higher quality Omega knock offs. So either way you slice it, the only sucker here is probably you.

The only thing i dislike is the bottom of the strap gets easily scratched

FYI, the 2254.50 is an automatic, no battery

Can anybody find a GOOD price from an authorized dealer on this watch? I don't want a grey market watch and I shudder to pay full retail for ANYTHING.... much less an expensive watch... $2000+

your next watch should be a speedmaster.

Nice. I have the blue one, coaxial. I hope you ordered yours from an authorized dealer and not on the internet. Omega, like any other Swiss watch company, won't warranty it unless purchased as such.

That watch will last forever. I have an early 60s self winding Seamaster That I got from my Old Man and it still keeps perfect time.
