Thanks for putting "ENGLISH" on the review header. For whatever reason, every other review I've found for this netbook has been in a language other than English lol.
@AscendUponOblivion I have dell inspiron 1018 and the CPU is the indicated as the bottleneck of netbook by windows 7 32bit. The 1GB of ram in it is the minimum requirment for windows7 to run, so the netbook is not snappy and fast enough. It is hard to upgrade the ram and the support of Dell company is horrible. Buy an Asus mini becose at least u won't have trouble to find a good compatible ram in order to upgrade.
this thing doesn't wake up from the sleep state (while working pressing the power button makes this thing sleep but it doesn't wake up when i press the power button nor any other button) It just stucks up
Yes it is i've the inspiron mini 1018 (came with ubuntu 10 netbook edition). I've changed it to windows 7 ultimate-x86 & installed all the drivers (The dell support page showed that my asset/service tag doesn't exist.) by getting from these websites After installing the drivers successfully, i just closed the lid
@EmuNext after installing the drivers i just went away closing the lid. later i just opened the lid and hit the enter key nor pressing the power button it didn't wake up. Some people say disabling usb legacy option in the bios will solve the problem & some people saying "didn't solved the problem".
to anybody who is looking at this machine for games, it's not suitable. It hasn't got, and can't get enough RAM to run modern games properly at the sme time as keeping the OS working properly. Forget it, it's the wrong machine for you. For anybody who wants to plug in a mic, if it's really that big a deal, you can just get a USB souncard dongle online for a few bucks which will have audio in and out jacks on it to connect a headset or mic, or if you've got the bluetooth model, get a BT headset.
@MrGriz59 dude, nearly no netbooks are made with the purpose of running games...i'm pretty sure its single core processor can't handle any heavy apps... u may even be able to squeeze out some counter strike 1.6 and GTA2 (lol) with still a loss in fps, but dunno... anyway, imho, it's still a waste of money to buy either notebooks or netbooks for playing games, but its up to u...
@xxsillyspoonxx If you install Windows XP like i did on my 1012 and install 2 GB of ram in it you can run a few littles games like GTA: Vice City/San Andreas
@derrickblack I would recommend you getting the 1012 because the 1018 is like a lighter version of the 1012, it has many options removed, it is missing 1 additional usb port (2 usb ports and the 1012 has 3) and many great features you can get in a 1012.
i wanted this til i heard the 1 megapixel camera, fuck that.

Turn turn it while letting it lean on the plug.... no wonder why so many people are able to damage their machine in such a short time...sigh

is there any different colors for this laptop?

Ha-ha. "Dell has a few things to learn" - totally agree.
1) LCD hinges don't look very reliable. This computer is mainly for travel, so they have to think and make it stronger.
2) Few air vents on the bottom - it will become hot. Not good.
Frunzenskiy 1 year ago
@Frunzenskiy It is fanless, so less or more air vents isnt going to help.

@AlexxSR Would you recommend I get the 1012 or 1018?
derrickblack 1 year ago

AlexxSR 1 year ago
@derrickblack And there is not even a microphone jack on it so i really suggest going for the 1012.
AlexxSR 1 year ago
@AlexxSR all new laptobs have built in mics!
samuslong 1 year ago
@samuslong Well my laptop is also new, I have a built in mic and a microphone jack
AlexxSR 1 year ago
@AlexxSR yeah but why need a microphone jack when you got a built in mic ...??
samuslong 1 year ago
@samuslong Because for some people, the built in mic is just too shitty and they need to plug their own mic or headset.
