Excellent comments ladies & men...glad somebody other Myself is paying attention to the power and use of the old films to enhance and inform our present
Sacrifice New York - to prevent a global catastrophe? It would be the only thing that might save the world. A lesser man might not follow this course...and you should read the book - his Wife and son were in NYC that day - he was offerring to expiate the sin, in a way that would make the Soviets STOP and take notice. Very chilling, and truth - we don't often get men of that moral character.
It is a scary, chilling and brilliant movie; I cannot agree with the morality of what President Fonda did-to destroy an entire American City-he sure does not seem too conflicted about it-which always bothered me about the way Fonda played the character-ironically I think George C. Scott from Dr. Strangelove would have been better to the role.
This films message as well as the acting is timeless. Brilliant performers, actors and actresses alike (can I still say that?)
After about 1975 the films went (in my oppinion) on a downward spiral where today a visit to the flicks for me is usually a dose of slow brain death..BTW Great channel, will sub.....jager!
Such a good movie. They just don't make them like this nowadays.
