  • I <3 your guitar!! it looks amazing!! wat brand???

  • That is an awesome guitar! The inlays are awesome!

  • Thanks SO much! I love that you're totally blunt about it. I still gotta practice, but you helped a lot

  • that is an awsome guitar have you ever had an ibanez?

  • Awesome vid bro, it's straight to the point and clear.

    Thanks!

  • Does the chorus go open then 10,5,8,3 or open 8,5,8,3 ?

  • damn! that was so good

  • dude just sat down same guitar in hand

  • Thats an AWESOME Guitar!!!!! love the neck.

  • Do u hav a vid of the solo yet? thts the only part I need

  • does it have to be regularly tuned or in drop d tuning

cuz i can still play it but i need to know

  • Incredible job, man!!!!

  • wat kinda amp and setting do u have? bc that sounds wicked!!!

  • dude...that was fukn awesome!!! i fell in love with ur guitar lol

  • that was wiked but i still dont get how to play it

  • To fast To fast good though but to fast to fast.

  • i Think It Might Help More If You Would've Played It All Together At The End.

    Anyways, This Helps :)

  • seeing that i only needed the solo this didnt really help me, but you did a good job anyways

  • man, i absoulutly love your fretboard

  • key piece missing: Use drop D tuning

  • nice tone

  • dude sick axe. love the inlay

  • hey bro what kind of pedal did you use on it

  • sseet guitar and thnx for the lesson

  • I love your guitar. the design on the knoch is sick

  • awsome guitar dude

  • im a beginner so when i first looked at this video im like holy **** look at his fingers lol

  • that joint rock

  • thank youuu (:

  • Good attempt but you have it wrong. I mean it sounds close but look up the tabs again. Oh and you know you might want to tell people what string to play on too that usually helps instead of saying "Play the 3rd fret" Also, people should know this is played in drop D tuning.

  • nc guitar u have..ibanez?

  • hey sam this vid was awesome and very helpful.

    buuuuuuut what about thee solo?

doesnt ASAP mean as soon as possible?

    but. were still waiting:(

  • how do u get uer guitar 2 sounds like that on uer amp!! do u just crank the gain?

  • you buy a guitar pedal, it has all these differnt sounds on it, like you can switch it from metal to like 70s pop sounding. they can get expensive though D:

  • One way around pedals is to get a modeling amp I have a 15 watt Peavey vypyr modeling amp it has a lot of different amp designs wit hdifferent distortion and has several different pedal effects its about $100

  • kool

  • Awesome..

  • LOL,BEATLE CRAP. Flyleaf wouldnt have fans if theyre not talented. well wadever anyone thinks, everyone has a talent. btw this lesson is great it helped me a lot (:

  • for the first and second chorus,, doesn't it go open, 8 5, 8, 3, 5? That just sounds so much more like it to me.. going 10, 5, 10 seems too high. might just be me...

  • wow what guitar is that? fucking awesome

  • It's a Shecter dimond series C-1 classic.

  • @guitartank11 What tune does it have to be in?

  • This is why bands like Flyleaf are so untalented. It makes me so mad!!! No concept of theory, melody, or harmony. Those aren't even full chords. Jimi Hendrix must be turning in his grave.

  • mmmm

    maybe they don't, but

when they play most of their songs, the guitar is tuned in open E or somthing with E

    this one is standard tuning

when THEY play it, in THEIR tunning, they use chords and all that.

hendrix, the beatles, black sabbath, mountain, eric clapton, etc. are other type of rock!!

this one is like.....heavy rock, post grunge or alternative, if yopu want to hear to lack of chords and harmony hear to...slipknot, it's coool but no melody XD

    have a nice day bro!!

  • Comment removed

  • nice .. what kind of guitar is that? .. and what setup are u using?

  • The guitar is a Shecter dimond series classic C-1 and i'm using a rage 158 amp.

it's a tiny amp but works and i have a digi tech rp 90 i think is what the pedal is.

  • for the main riff, i think its actually

    (3-0-3-5-8-5-8-10-8-5-8-5-[0]) instead of 3

  • yeah on the end they do that but the rest of the song i believe it to be the 0 i'll have to listen to it again. thanks though.

  • so like, for the intro is it a bar chord or what??

  • yes you just hold down the strings EAD (well DAD because its drop D tuning)

  • awesome! all i could figure out on my own was the intro. the rest was from this video... also suprised you broke down the song . most dumbasses just play the riffs and expect us to learn it.

  • yeah thanks i hate that too so i broke it down so that way when i confuse the heck out of someone they can watch the one part they had trouble with.

  • thanks!! that helped me A LOT!!!! rock on man!

  • NICE GUITAR!

  • I can't understand the chorus!!!

    :(

  • i just started the guitar and want to learn this song soooo bad!!! its hard!!!

  • Ahh FUCK YEAH!

  • dude fuckin amazin guitar schecter c1 classic amazing sound and really cheap

  • awesome tabs dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • totally wrong on the chorus....

    it goes (0-8-5-8-3)

  • are you basically just barring the frets the entire intro?

  • thanks man.. that really helpred allot... your guitar is just so gorgeous!!! i love it...

  • that was a littl confusing.

the only people that can play this now are the people who already knew how before

  • the verse is wrong...

I mean I geuss you could play yours but the one that I know is like on

    the verse its 3-0-5-0

and then its 3-0-3-5-8-5-8-10(2x)[played on the top E string]

and on the second verse its the same thing except you play the riff only one time.

This is Sameer's version which is what I play

  • ummmm.....wat???

  • omg... u help me so much.. i didn't think i can do this song but i can play it now because of you :) thanks sooo much u help me so much

  • your guitar is freakin awesome!! is it a schecter? i'm working out a few kinks with this song and then i'm going to record it and put it on youtube

  • Wicked fun song, and really not that hard. I love playing it.

  • grr.. i'm getting frustrated!! it doesn' sound right!! like.. you do something different then what you say on the chorus!! :( grrr.. aaaaa

  • did you tune to drop d that is what the band plays it in

  • yes! haha.. but... i guess all it took was more practice ...haha i nailed it! your video was a big help :) thank you!

  • how come your playing here isn't the same like your other fully alive video? it looks different to when you play it here, then when you play it on the other one.

  • love the vid. i have to song book, but i still need to see it to play it. im no guitarist yet, but im learning. :-D

  • i already can play this but i just have to say

    Sick-ass guitar :D

  • what tuning is it in

  • all of flyleafs songs are drop D. 6E string drop a note to D. the rest is normal tuning.

  • how do you do that?

  • your guitar should be tuned in standard tuning (E-A-D-G-B-E)to drop to D.. you tune down the 6th string (the fatest one)to E (D-A-D-G-B-E. better to see it then read it. search the web or even youtube for better ones

  • oh gosh..now I feel really stupid! Thanks! I get it now =p

  • it sounds great but what guitar is that

and what is your setup Amp? Distortion?

  • beginning guitarists could really benefit from the video ^.^'

  • ONE FINGER CHORDS WOOO...wait...

  • yeah nvm fuck your shit you teach it all wrong..

  • dude you tell us how to play and you say hit a 3 fret at the end but you play it open when you go through it...

  • this really helped me understand but it would be AWESOME if you could say what strings to play!

  • THANKS i like this vid, helped me alot

  • you make it sound so easy

  • it's because it is

  • i sound like a dead cat when i play it

  • this vid is pretty good, you go at the right and everything and it works for the bass also i think...

  • Dude that was pretty good. Helped alot.

Just wanted to say that is a sick guitar! is it a Paul Reed Smith?

    anywho.. keep rockin!

  • how com ii never soundd right?????????????

  • the intro is supossed to have a small pause between the two times it isnt that fast.but i give u props because u did a great job on it

  • yeah it's supposed to hehe without the CD i rush it so oh well. thanks though :D

  • Ive been looking into buying a pedal and i just wanted to know what to look for

  • um just look for a style you like that has the effects you want and whatever you can offord basicly. i really like digi tech there cheap and are really good with digital effects.

  • Thanks for replying

  • its also in Drop D

  • um....wen i play the thing on the 3rd fret....it vdiesnt sound right....do i strum all strings?

  • no just the top three (the DAD strings.) if you strum all it does sound wierd

  • answered my question on the chorus... thank you so much.

  • im usin a rp250 digitech.... wat effect did u use on ur rp80?

  • ummm i went to settings on a distorted voice (i just scearched i think this one is a grunge) and then added all the bass the pedal puts out and a lot of mid with 3/4 high range. and that's about it. put a bit of compresser on it. hope that made sense.

  • Thank you!

    this is briliant.

You should make more "how to play" videos :)

    esp. Flyleaf :D

  • the chorus part was confusing to me.. can you explain it?

  • You use a pedal for it sound like that right?

because i droped it to the D tunning but it doesnt sound like that metal grundge

  • yeah i use my Digi tech rp 80. the secret is put a lot of bass into the sound and it should make it better.

  • help me i dont no wat im doing wrong because im only 12 so my fingers might be to small so it sound horrible

  • well just try playing it really really slow and practice doing a really good job and slowly work up the speed that's what i do.

  • hey how did u tune ur guitar to sound like that?!?!?!

  • that is known as Drop D tuning. it's where you take the normal guitar tuning. EADGBE and make it DADGBE you drop the E note to a D note the lowest pitch string down one whole step. hope that makes sense if not let me know.. best way to do that is pluck the D string and then the low E and drop it till it matches.

  • thank you! <3

  • yeah np hope it helps!

  • ok im new at this but how do you tune your guitar to D

and when u start on the 3rd fret what string do you press?

  • um tuning to D. you take the lowest string (lowest in pitch) and bring it down a whole step to a d note instead of an E note. and the power chord i play the third fret on the top three strings.

  • do u need to tune your guitar into drop d or c to get the song right??

  • just to D

  • oh yeah and what do you set the amp at? I cant get my guitar to sound like that

  • what kinda guitar you got? and i set a lot of bass and a lot of medeiums and about 3/4 highs. and the guitar has a lot of bass in it by its self so that helps. but the trick is just tones of bass and a fair ammount of volume.

  • Gibson Maestro Electric. So I should just set different tones?

  • um you could i'm not 100% sure about your guitar but just crank the bass on the amp and then see what sounds best on the guitar stting stuff.

  • do you press down all the strings?

  • um just the top three. which makes a power chord (the 1st and 5th note) and it's a tuneing drop "D" D A D G B E so the top three D A D makes a power chord and so on.

  • thanks

  • how long did it take you to learn this?

  • about 15 minutes.

  • what kind of distortion are you using?

  • i'm useing an RP 80 by digitech.

  • Man that was cool. It helped me a lot aswell:) I just had tuff time with the chorus and the ending chorus. But other than it was great. I'm sure your tired of reading about the chorus issues though. PeAcE OuT

  • haha yeah um i made a vid... i just need to load it i'll do that hopefully after work today. thanks for the comments though

  • actually chorus is open 8th 5th 8th 3rd 5th

  • very nice man. thnks for putting it up it helped alot the only thing that the chorus is a litlle hard to understand

  • yeah sorry i'll try to do a vid on just the chorus here in the next few days after i get my gutiar.

  • hey! okay i got it. but can you make another video on how to do the chorus, cause you went a little too fast so i got confussed :P

  • um yeah sorry lol. it'll probly be a few days beacuse my guitar is at Chruch so i'll bring it home sunday afternoon and hopefully record it then.

  • oops sorry lol i'm still getting used to trying to tell people. haha glad i could help some though. laters

  • oh and the chorus is open stum 10th fret 8th fret 10th fret 5th fret 8th fret

  • oh and he ment to say you go 5 fret to open strum on the very to last parts of the intro chorus thingy. not 5th to 3rd.

  • fret the 4 5 and 6 strings. drop D power chord.

  • uhmm.. The chorus seems to be hard to get.

Specialy the first part can you explain it to me please? thanks

  • um yeah let me go play it and write it down and i'll get back to you soon.

  • OK thx...

  • omg u put it up,thanks man!!!:D:D:DDDD

  • Im a newbie at guitar.. are you using a power chord or just fretting the top two strings in the verse?

  • whoa i love the wery beginning i can care less about how to do it.

  • thats awsome Flyleaf is an awsome band and it sounds good comin out of the guitar what kind is it and whats ur amp they sound awsome

    thanks

  • it's a shecter Dimond series the C1 classic.

and it's a peavy rage 158 and a digi tech rp 80. key to a great sound is tons of bass ;)

  • hey how come you dont use your pinkie to press? if i use my third finger i cant reach the fret cleanly. does it make matter which finger i use?

  • um no it doesant matter which finger it's all what works for you. so what ever your comfterble doing do it! i don't pay much atention to which finger i use i just do what feels right. thanks for commenting though!

  • Love the fretboard !

  • VERY GOOD:D

  • uuhhmmm.... just wanna ask if you press all the strings... i really don't know how to ask this question... hope you understand... hehe..:D

  • edit: haha... ok... wanna ask if you press all the strings during intro (except for the open parts)... that's all.... :D i know that this is a stupid question... hehe... thank you... i learned from this video...:D

  • um no just the top three. D A D the lowest in pitch.

  • ok... thank you... :D

  • no problem.

  • Uh, what tuning? lol >_> I'm guessing Drop D.

  • yeah drop D

  • u cant play the song the right way, but the start is diffrent.

instead of going all the way through and sliding, just go to the 10th i beleive and start over.

  • i'm not sure i know what your saying 100%... i know the lesson is off on some things but i think the intro is ok. if you check out me actully playing it (i still make mistakes) but it's fairly close i think so let me know what you think of that.

  • at the very beginning, where theres 2 diffrent guitars playing when there shouldnt be, haha.. u play it right, just the very beginning.

    good job :)

    i want that guitar also.

  • oh i get it lol. yeah. and yeah this guitar is amazing my chruch got it for me beacuse the other guitar i had shounded really bad in the band so they got me this one so it sounded really good. but now i'm filling in for drums till we find another drummer :( so i don't get to play guitar for chruch atm.

  • lol, well send it to me :) ill keep it till ya get a drummer.. haha

  • LOL i don't think so ;) i don't think the chruch would let me lol.

  • CHARITY!!! just say it was temporary charity.

  • Haha that's a good one.... :P sorry but i'm keeping it... for now. if i win the lotto tell ya what i'll buy you one k? sirus

  • haha.

    same here.

( if u like staind and wanna learn some just tell me, i know just about every song ) lol.

  • you know that's the second time i've heard that name but i havint heard any of there stuff i don't think. i should look em up and if i like it i'll let ya know so i can learn one.

  • search "Staind right here" or Its been awhile, or so far away..outside..well i could go on all day.
