Maybe I did misunderstand the gay comment, if so I am sorry. Thank you so much for calling that to may attention. I was commenting on the question, was he gay or bi?
@Andrea62ish That's very gracious of you, thanks. But don't worry, I wasn't knocking you, either, just saying! (To be honest, you could be right but I've chosen to give folks the benefit of the doubt!)
As for his sexual preferences, I don't really know, but I gather he got about a bit!
@Righter99 I don't remember, sorry! A bit of research suggests it might have been part of a (British TV) Channel 4 show called The White Room broadcast during the late 90's, presented by Mark Radcliffe! The time & presenter are both correct, the rest is guess-work! Hope it helps!
"Keep A-Knockin'" - This song goes all the way back to 1938, done by Louis Jordan and his Tympamy Five in a style called "Jump Blues". It had a line about "..dinkin' gin" but Richard's producers cut that line to market this song to a teenage audiance.
The reality with all sex symbols (and let's face it, Little Richard was rock n' roll's first genuine sexually charged performer) is that they do shit most people won't do, can't do, or refuse to admit doing.
Well, the man is amazing and really crazy. He deserves the crown, but I think Elvis and Jerry Lee deserves it too. Can we just say Little Richard is one of the kings of rock and roll?
@rbound827 No, that's not EVERY king - BO DIDDLEY must be on the list or it's not complete. And even with him added, you might want to add Eddie Cochran and Johnny Burnette (Johnny was as ferocious as the originators when he was with the Rock 'N' Roll trio...and that's really saying something!)
@Mr2009Truth Im a fan of Burnette and Cochran a well, but I'm taking about the first group of guys from about 52-55. ( Excluding the original RnB pioneers who could claim the title as well) The Burnette Trio were ferocious at Rockabilly, probably the best, so we'll keep them in Rockabilly category. Perkins, already teh King of Rockabilly has to beincluded if only for the impact of Blue Suede Shoes. I'll give you Diddley. Gene Vincent, Holly and Cochran could claim a spot as well I gather.
he is in his 70s and he can still rock like that and scream and roar like a lion! wow thats incredible, i think he is the best and the real king of rock!
The Source of all Rock and Roll came from these Master American Soul Naturals, the Joyous Music of a unique suffering and redemption culture. Thanks you for the editing!!!!
Amazing! Hendrix, Richards, Morrison...etc... sent from another planet to shake it the fuck up!!!!! Phil Collins...? sorry, doesn't smoke my Boat. Peace!
Thrilling is word WAY overused. Little Richard is a FUCKING THRILLING artist. He is the architect, the contractor and the MOTHERFUCKING bulldozer of rock and roll. No LR, no stones, beatles, queen, and everybody else we worship.
Appears to be a 1995/1997 UK appearance. Richard excellent, singing loud and long, poundin' hard. Surprise of All Around The World, something of a forgotten classic B-side - incredible tripletime playing near the end. Still the King at age 62/3/4! My-my-my.
aaaaawesome
