Honestly... I dont think a stock GTI would beat a S2000.... Off the line maybe because the turbo on the GTI helps it mid range vs these S2000's are getting the most power out of high end. If the drivers good and knows how to drive the car, Im sure the S2k driver would eventually come out victorious no?

It is very very true, in fact, next time i go to track and auto cross i will take a camera and my buddy with a slightly modified s2k to show how it is...but unfortunately, even with the proof in front of their eyes, handa boys always underestimate vdubs(well 86% of the time).

Actually, the GTI was designed to be a road driven car, as in all types of em, i have met one maybe two 2sk that did well on the tarmac.

Both were heavily modified with suspensions that cost more than my first 3 cars combined. they were also boosted, not saying they are bad cars, but give credit where its due dude.

A stock 1.8T or vr6 eats up track and street, R32 just destroys em.

And yes, they may be quieter than your s2k, but they make up for it in build quality and style.

I'm fairly well informed actually, I base this off of research conducted on them, experiences driving them/racing them, and experiences modifying them.

One major reason i didn't get one was i didn't like the tranny set up,nor did i like the plastic interior, the gti had my speed, my class, and my comfort...And its still running.

Neither are bad cars(though both have their downfalls), but in this case, vw won.

So please, quit being a fanboi...for EVERYONE'S SAKE.

A stock suspension s2000 would destroy both a 1.8T and VR6 on any road course, or an autoX. A lightweight roadster with 50/50 weight balance, RWD, LSD, more HP stock then both those cars, and is geared much more aggressively, coupled with a 9,200 rpm redline stock.

Your '04 would need to have ~ 210-215 whp just to hang with a stock s2000 in a straight line in all seriousness. A stock s2k puts down ~ 210rwhp and weight ~ 2750lbs. WIth 4.10 gearing. That would mean your car would have to have just about full bolt-ons - stock turbo to pull away from a well driven s2000.

Trust me I know all about your mk4. My boy had the first 1.8T in the 10's down here. And I saw it grow along the way.

Which is wonderfully set-up for a road course.

1) Running a 13.7 in a stock S2000 is rather easy.

2) A Civic SI only gains 50whp from a turbo? Are you stupid? There are all kinds of different systems out there that make much more then that! A Civic SI with like 4-5PSI would make more then 50whp.

3) Yes the S2000 made 701 RWHP on a completely stock motor and tranny. Look it up. It's on here.

1) There have been hundreds of guys, maybe thousands who have taken a completely stock s2000 down a 1/4 mile in 13.7 seconds. I did it in my 2nd run ever with the car.

3) The car was driven for 6 months before crashing into a guard rail. The motor was still fine.

The S2K and older DE 350z's are near identical in straight-line speed when both are stock. Both have the ability to run 13.6's. But now the newer HR Z's run low 13's around 107. So I don't know where the 13.8 comes from JR.

um my friend has a gti with at the time he had dp, intake, dv and res delete no flash, we raced a stock s2k and he pulled on us like 3-4 cars. My friend is flashed now stage2 s2000 wont win stock now. This gti is NOT stock I cant tell you that right now its def stage 2 cuz we raced the same guy again and it was just like this. Rather have s2k then a gti any day

No he has 08 GTI, look at my videos. Your stock 04 GTI will not stay up with an s2k. We raced an ap2 s2k the one in this video is an ap1. We did a 3rd gear roll he had dp and intake in the GTI, we did 3 beeps and the s2k pulled away like 3 cars. Even though my friend would say different, he thought he was going to win or stay up with it, but he didn't he was mad for the rest of the day cuz I was talking shit. And that whole hondas not liking DuBfuks, is cuz they dont like us back.

i don't have one personally on my GTI, but I am thinking of getting one... they're going to have to have SOME sort effect on the engine, but unless you're going wide open throttle all the time, then I think your engine should be fine. Most "chips" offer a control so you can go back to stock.. if i got one that's what i would do. Use the HP when i needed it, and during normal driving, like going to work or during the week, turn it to stock, and switch to the extra HP for the weekends. :)
