I saw this on TV when I was a young girl (yes they used to show foreign films on TV before there was cable!) and still remember the tears turning into diamonds. This was my first French film.
even though i don't speak French, it is still such a beautiful movie. I was iffy about watching it because of the language barrier. but give it shot!!! this film surprised me in that way!!!
the castle scene with her poor lost father at the beast's mansion, the armed candelabra showing him the way to that massive table, with the roaring fire, the smoking statues all staring at him is one of the greatest visions in the history of film.
I adore this film!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I spoke French so I could understand exactly what they say. I love the subtitles, but I always prefer the original words.
Yea I'm not sure if I would have run from the house screaming or stayed and have not made a sound but I would definitely not drink the drink! Good movie though
ok first time seeing this film and I gotta say that this part (with all the candles and hands and absolute silence) was terrifying. More scary to me than most horror films in their entirety. God, this was film-making at its finest.
I never knew Belle was sarcastic. Damn, those sisters is not close to pretty or even cute. But this Beauty and the Beast version reminds me of Rose Daughter by Robin Mckinley, in contrast, the book portrayed the two sister are really pretty, while bele was called beauty but ironically lacks it. T'was a good version. :)

je n'aime pas la version française qu'il est vraiment gai j'aiment la version américaine meilleure les ressembler de bête à un chat qui est vraiment stupide
OMG, There is NOTHING like the art of bitching in french! I'M SO IN LOVE, HAHA! I wish I could run in, throw my gloves down and give people what for in parisian french, haha :)
Jeu merveilleux de Marcel André (le père)dans cette scène au château de la Bête. Il y est merveilleusement dirigé par Cocteau. C'est vraiment là le coeur du film.
The sisters are mean, but at least they're realistic. I don't know a single girl, whom, upon finding that her father can dig them her out of poverty, would ask for a flower.
