  • his voice souinds familiar ..but where???

  • @AvatarTTfan Hmm, I'm not sure.

  • "This is English Town... Yep English" haha that made me laugh xD

  • He said "you are my destiny" lol that was too cute

  • @myliferox4realz Some of the kids learn phrases, but I'm not sure if they know exactly what they all mean.

  • @TheChadinKorea oh. it's cute though. and some them really seem to like showing off their english skills :D

  • Would you recommend studying abroad for aprx. 1 year in Korea? I was going too, but the education system scares me a bit.

  • @Rawaraii Do you mean studying at a college or as a high school exchange student?

  • @TheChadinKorea High School Exchange Student

  • @Rawaraii Unless you speak Korean, I don't think you can find a high school in Korea which will do that. I know some universities in Korea give classes in English, but even if you were to take classes in a Korean high school, be prepared for long hours. I'm no expert on the subject, but who knows, maybe you can find a special high school that gives instructions in English. However, I don't know of any.

  • @TheChadinKorea Haha I took the liberty in teaching myself Korean around 2010 to now. Thank you very much for the advice though! ^_^

  • WOAH THEY HAVE A BIG ASS WIDE SCREEN MONITOR ON THEIR CLASSROOM

  • Korean schools are so cool! ;__;

  • THEY HAVE TINY ASS HALLWAYS. .___________.

  • the students have accent in korean!! :)

  • Comment removed

  • For some reason I really want to meet you. You seem really nice ^^

  • @BananaBubbi You're from Denmark? Well if I am ever there, I will stop by and say hello :)

  • I'm a middle school student in korea... and I think that school is a lot better than ours. In my school, it's a bit messy.

  • Su-min seems to be a funny guy! :D

  • @dustyOn3 He definitely had a big personality and made life there really fun. I haven't seen or spoken to him in almost a year, but I miss him and many of the students.

  • @TheChadinKorea: Yeah, i believe it. I will visit South-Korea this year (Seoul). How long did you stay there?

  • @dustyOn3 I was there for one year. From Feb. 2010 to Feb 2011.

  • Arent korean students allowed to dye or grow out their hair? Bc in every school video, or videos i've seen, all girls and boys hve black hair. Girls usually have bangs and a bowl cut.

Is it like a school uniform that the students have to have this kind of hair to attend the schools?

I thinking about studying 1 year in korea in high school, but this is somthing that im really afraid of :P

  • @KDinhNguyen I never saw any of my students with dyed hair. Also, I don't think they were allowed to grow it very long. All the students I saw had similar hair styles and they were all short.

  • @TheChadinKorea, How did you begin to teach in S. Korea? What are the quantifications?

  • @loleeyz5 The program I went through, EPIK (English Program In Kore) requires you to have some kind of college degree, but it can be anything. Then, you have to pass an online test (which is pretty easy), then you have to submit a background record. There is also a phone interview. At the time, it seemed like a big procedure but it was worth it.

  • @TheChadinKorea, Thanks I'm only in high school still but I know for a fact that after college I want to teach children in other countries English and I think South Korea is great, and it does seem like it's worth it.

  • Are all the high schools in Korea boys-only/girls-only?

I wish I went to a girls-only school when I was in high school and middle school!

  • @MiSSloveish Actually there are co-ed schools, but in my little town, we had a boy's school and a girl's school. In elementary school, they were mixed and I have seen video of middle and high school students being mixed.

  • damn i want free time after lunch too

  • OMG I THINK I SAW MY FRIEND DONGWOO XP

  • O.O 8 a.m. - 9 or 11 p.m !??!?!?!!? OMG !! this is so much time on the school !! I hope they have much free time on the school >.< because they don't have life without the school x.x

  • I am planning on going to Korea for a foreign exchange student program when I get into senior year, but some of my friends who moved here from Korea said they don't like foreigners too much, but it doesn't seem like that's true thanks to this video. Did a lot of people understand you even though you were speaking English most of the time?

  • @babysheep232 It's true that some Koreans don't like foreigners. But it's also true that some Americans don't like foreigners. Everyone I met was very kind to me. When you get to know someone for who they really are, then old ideas start to die away. Who knows, give it a chance and maybe you will like it. It was difficult at times communicating but I learned enough Korean to help me survive.

  • @TheChadsw Ah, thank you for telling me that. As long as you ended up being able to communicate somehow. That makes me more comfortable for when I go.

  • @babysheep232 If you go, definitely learn the alphabet (pretty easy) and learn a few phrases. It will go a long way.

  • @TheChadsw Thank you for the advice! I will definitely take the advice to use.

  • "This is English town... Yup. English..." I laughed so hard XD

  • koreans just loooove badminton lol

  • ohhhh :) thank you very much for giving me some information about living in Korea :)

hope i can study there :) thank you very much again :)

  • ohhhh, really :) how long did you stay in Korea? and is it hard to live there as a foreigner? :)

  • @kiren31 I was there for one year. It wasn't too bad living there. I met a lot of other foreigners and I also learned a little Korean, which really helped me in everyday situations.

  • this is really good :) i really wanna go and study to south korea, but i think i tooks me ages to understand their language, and is there any foreign school in seoul or incheon..? :)

hope you upload more video, kamsamnida for the upload :)

  • @kiren31 You will probably find schools in Seoul, but I don't know any names of schools there. But that is probably the best place to look. I'm glad you like the videos but I'm no longer in Korea. I still make little videos from time to time about my life back in America, but I don't have anymore from Korea.

  • @kiren31 Hi, there are plenty of international or foreign schools around Seoul (SFS, KIS, YISS are some that I know). Most of them offer accredited highschool degrees such as IB (International Baccalaureate) and AP and prepare you for college mostly in the US, UK, AUS

There are also other international schools around Korea such as TCIS in Taejon and BIFS in Busan. I used to attend BIFS (Busan International Foreign School) in Busan. However, tuition is expensive (around 25,000 dollars per year).

  • 채드 윌버. Chad Wilbur? LOL

  • @ellundrilwalkshadow Very good, but my last name has an E in it, not a U. But you have the right sound.

  • OMG ... I am studying history and it is my dream to be a teacher in Korea ... I love korean people..

  • Isn't it hard to communicate with the student. I see that there english is not good at all, but still.

  • @TwinGirlss At times it was incredibly hard. I had to rely on a lot of pictures. From time to time I had to have a Korean English teacher help me out.

  • Omo! They are so cute lol!!

  • lol i thought u were a student from that school lol. then when u put the camera down i just realized ur a teacher. ur such a nice teacher lol. it looks soo awesome that school. it must be awesome in girls school too. just asking. how come they finish later.

  • @sabi41 No, I was definitely a teacher. They go to school for so long because their culture really believes in "study, study, study." They want to make good grades so they can get in a good college. I don't really know how different the girls schools are, but one time I observed a girl's class and in my opinion, they were more open to learn English than the boys.

  • @TheChadinKorea when they stay long in school is it they do there homework or there other courses they have. if they finished at 3 or 4 something like that. is it homework period and asking teachers or something like that. is it all schools that finish at 9 or 11 or some schools.

  • @sabi41 Actually 4:00 is when they clean. Yes, the students clean. Many students leave school around 6:00, but then they probably have private lessons after that, but this is not always in school. They have a free hour for playing or doing homework.

  • 7:38 story of my school life

  • Oh where is this in Korea? I am going to be moving to Korea in January to teach english! Can't wait!

  • @Adoredbyothers This is about 20 minutes north of the city Gumi (or Kumi). The little town I lived in was called Seonsan. However, I no longer teach in Korea.

  • su-min is FUNNY!!! and so cute!!!

  • Wow! Min-Jin's English is very good! Everything is so different in Korea! I want to move from America to there! I am learning Korean on my own time, but it is very hard! I wish I could be there for my next year of high school, I'll be a Junior. I want to be there so bad! I envy you! :P Korean guys are very cute and funny! I can't believe there are no custodians there! Omg Seniors are there until 11 at night! :O I hope you keep making videos and update us! Very interesting! (:

  • That school looks so coool! I'd sooooo go there!(: oh wait I'm a girl. -.- I forgot you had to be a guy Haha Well I'd wanna go there anyways! I wonder if a girls Korean High School is cool too? Haha I'm still laughing over the guy that said, "Your my destiny!" Lol I wasn't expecting that!

  • @MegaAznLove I observed a girl's school one time, but I didn't teach there. So I don't know what it is really like to teach there, but it seems to me that girls want to learn English more than boys.

  • @TheChadinKorea It seems really cool! I hope I get to experience high school there at least for a while someday! Oh I have a question: what age are they for each year? Like Freshman: 14 yrs. old Sophomore: 15 yrs. old

  • @MegaAznLove The ages are basically identical to American schools. But, in Korea, age is a little different everywhere you go. For instance, when you're born, you're considered one year old. So it's like everyone is about a year older than you would expect. What that means is when kids graduate in Korea, they are usually 19 years old, even though we in American would really consider them 18. That might sound confusing to you, but it's just how they consider age over there.

  • @TheChadinKorea Oh okay I understood what you said. Thank you!

  • My korean teacher told me about this and i actually didn't believed the first time, but when he showed us some videos and now looking at this one i can see how hard is for school students there. School in my country is nothing compared to that, and I actually wanted to be something like that here, even tho i already finished my studies.

  • wow till 11 pm?!

  • @MsElizabeff It's crazy, isn't it? Many Korean students miss out on activities that we Americans take for granted. For example, you will never go to a friday night football game over there.

  • @TheChadinKorea that is crazy! so you have to stick around till 11 pm too? what time do you wake up for work?

  • @MsElizabeff No, I worked from 8 until 5:00. Some teachers stayed a little later, but even after school is out (anywhere from 6 until 9), they will sometimes go to a private teacher outside of school.

  • hi that a cool video

I am moroccan and my dream is to study high school in korea but of curse I can't so I am thinking o attending a college there one day......

anyway I adore korea and I loved these students they study hard and well mannerd and so funny ....

what do think is it possible for me to study there ??? I mean what do you think I suppose to do ????

  • @salimusiclover It's nice to hear from you. Actually I'm not sure about studying in Korea because I was never told about it. I know many people in Seoul speak English and there are probably many colleges there. But I just don't know what you can do to study there..

  • ehwhy don't you go to teach? You just gp arounf and chillin on there ? what your job actually?!

  • @kelvinjiro yes my job was to teach. What you saw was the times when I wasn't teaching.

  • omge are they sperriez <3

  • 'Say hello'

    *Gives peace sign*

    LOL

  • Wow !! I would like to be in korea school.

  • Do you speak Korean?? If not how do you teach them?? AND SCHOOL TILL 9PM??? That's crazy! Mine ends at 3!

  • @ErikinaDaisy I can only speak a little Korean, that's all. We are *supposed* to have a Korean teacher with us in the classroom at all times to help us translate, but that rarely happens. So yeah, it can be a challenge at times trying to teach them. I made sure to make a lot of powerpoint presentations and just kept things simple.

  • In my school I have 8 hours in school since im in high academic school

  • @5BellaELLa5 In my classes they had no homework, but in some other classes, they do have homework. How much exactly, I don't know, but I did hear them complain about it a few times.

  • You are so nice

Korean students have never seen foreigners before so they might just told you any English words that they know and they would be really curious about you

I am a Korean girl who is studying at US

I can know and watch boys in this video like you so much

  • @the88ken I really liked the students. Well, almost all of them :) Actually everyone I met in Korea was very nice and respectful to me.

  • LOL you are my destiny the drama. LOLLOLL

  • Comment removed

  • How did you become a teacher in Korea? Was it on some sort of foreign exchange thing or did you organize it yourself?

  • @meeegantron It wasn't through any kind of exchange. I went through a company called EPIK (English Program in Korea). They basically set everything up for you. As far as I know, it is one of the more successful programs out there.

  • i cant even stand school after three hours........ i bow down to them XD

  • that sumin is really handsome! :D

  • Why are there female administrators in an all male school?

  • @HwAJoN It's true there are a few female teachers as well as female secretaries, but there are also about the same number of male teachers. The principal and vice principal were both males. I didn't show the entire staff, so the video may lead you to think there are nothing but women there.

  • I love the beginning! " Hi you're my destiny! Sorry." haha ^.^

  • LOOOL Matt Avacodo. ;D

    Korean guys -drools-

  • wow and my kid complains about finishing homework at 8p.m. or getting home at 3:30p.m. When do they have time for homework?

  • @CyberDame I can tell you a lot of kids did their homework in my English class. Some of them (maybe all of them) had a little free time at school to do homework. Kind of like a study hour. Even still, they don't have much time for anything other than school.

  • o-o hehe

  • my favourite badminton move, hit the ball deep in the court a couple of times and then finally just hit it a litle over the net. your opponent is gonna be too far down the court hahah :P

  • @xoxoMADinLovexoxo I saw some really good badminton players there. Little kids and even some older folks.

  • Oh sweetie, this is so obviously your first year. I hope by the second year of your contract you'd connected more with your students and learned your own Korean phrases. And oh goodness, stopped that thing of "say something in___".

  • @LaScorpionita Keep in mind this was just a snapshot of daily life. I connected very much with so many students that I know they will never forget me and I will never forget them. For those who paid attention in class, they really did learn something, not just about English but about me and America. Likewise, I learned quite a bit of Korea and a good deal about my students.

  • Ms. Cha rocks! What a look she gave you!

  • She´s wonderfull xD

  • WTF "you are my destiny?" xDD

  • hahaha! I want to meet su min! hahaha! He is so funny~

  • I think "nappeuneom" is the korean word for "bastard" , a bad word indeed ! lol merong I said it Mr Chad !

  • @narusasusaku87 I asked the teacher and she basically said it means "bad guy"

  • @TheChadinKorea Isn't "bad guy" the english for "nappeun namja" ?

Well, Actually my best friend ishalf korean and she told me that "nappeuneom" means "bastard"/ "jerk" but the meaning is much milder in Korea than the word we use in France , so people use it for " bad guy" ... Hmm well I might be wrong ... sorry ^^-

Actually Spanish is a beautiful language, but there are too many people in the world who speak spanish, I wish I had chosen German :) well it's never too late, I'll try to learn it by myself .

  • @narusasusaku87 I think everyone should learn one extra language. Also, I think it's just fun.

  • are they strict like in movies they hit you and stuff or does it depend what school? will they let you dye you hair do you get in trouble for wearing make up or anything like that please answer!!

  • @lolococoxD I have never once had a student even raise his hand at me or in anyway come across as being violent. You can certainly wear makeup and you may be ok with dyeing your hair, as long as it's not too distracting.

  • Apparently, the seniors study until 10pm?

  • @MethsiaMae Yes, sometimes they study that late. They really don't have much free time at all.

  • @TheChadinKorea :/ That's annoying. Do they study even on the weekends?

  • @MethsiaMae They go to school on Saturday until noon or so.

  • "I knoooow I'm genious!"

    I love these people.

  • @ShutTheHellUpNavi If it's a word they know, it's "genius". They love to call themselves that.

  • Funny, 90% of them were glasses

  • ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ춤추는오빠 훈남스멜난당ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

  • why do seniors have to stay for a long time? do they got to take more classes? p.s. i love videos like these hope you make more cause i already subscribed lol

  • @MuzickLogic In Korea, you really don't have much of a life outside of school. They believe the more schooling you have, the better your chances for a good college. The chance for a good college is a chance for a good job.

  • Me and my friend want to go to Korea sooo bad :( Were hoping to go sometime after we graduate in the summer :) But...we doubt it will happen, seeing as how our korean stinks :P Aw well, a girl can dream :D

  • @BumbleBeezers Do you plan on going on vacation or teaching? Either way, just learn some key phrases and you should be ok. If you go to big cities (Seoul, Daegu, etc), then they will probably know some good enough English, at least in restaurants, etc.

  • @BumbleBeezers

    Hahhaha, I agree with you.

Me and my friends want so badly, to go to korea! But just like you, we doubt it! So we just dreaming to fly to korea! hahaha

    Dreaming girls!

  • aww Korea is so kool :) can u be my tour guide if someday i can visit Korea:) lol

  • I love this i love korea but i love japan too !! i wanna learn both !!!!!

  • AIGOO~~ i can tell you what the teacher in pink said to you haha

  • i want to go to Korea.. aigoo aigoo >.<; ~~~ want to see my friends again =.=; ~~ i miss them. ~~ where is it that you went in Korea?

  • @KuroOkamiOni I was in a small town called Seonsan, which is maybe 20 minutes south of a bigger town called Gumi.

  • @TheChadinKorea i think it in south korea, right? ~~ i think gumi is also the second largest in Gyeongsangbuk-do~~~ maybe haha don't know~~ yah its about 20-30 minutes away from Gumi~~ i think haha ~~ hmmmf

  • do they even know what destiny means.

  • @eo478tjq Good question. Most likely he heard it in a song and just repeated it, but some of them will surprise you from time to time and use a word that you wouldn't expect.

  • @eo478tjq AIGOO! 난 이제 알아! 그는 드라마에서 좋은 생각이있어! ( i think he got the idea from famous drama ~~ 'nobuta wo produce' or is in engrish~~ pigs produce... 네~~ i think so.)

  • This school is so crazy! I love it! :) Korean people seems so happy, confident and outgoing. Not like ours school.. fast walk though the hallaway because most of people are lookin at you like: ''I HATE YOU!''.

    haha :)

  • Su-min 너무 귀엽다! (#^.^#)〜〜♥♡♥

  • Comment removed

  • sumin is really handsome ^-^

  • how old did you were when you visited this highschool?

  • @MadMentalBad I was 34 when I started there. I'm 35 now.

  • so that's why they ALWAYS (i mean frequently) sleeps in class.... wow.. they go home for sleep ONLY!

  • MICHEAL JACKSON? XD

  • You get to wear just your socks in the hallway??? That is

    SO. FREAKING. AWESOME.

    ^_^

  • Hahaha Sumin's reaction when he realised it was video xD

  • ROFL say hi Matt Avocado

lol that took them a while to realize

  • 前髪短すぎ…

    田舎の子みたいww

  • ballons are so funn :D

  • Annoying guys ...

  • Nice video in first person view :)

  • this is the bombbbb

  • @shopiayay I've been back in the states for almost two months but I enjoyed my time in Korea.

  • @TheChadinKorea I wish I could transfer to Korea for high school

  • wow 8 till 11 and i thought skl in france was loong lol...

  • I want to go to Korea! My best friend from school moved back there...

  • how's life in korea? i want to live there... ><

  • @seoulchae Well I'm not there anymore. I came back to the states a little over a month ago. It was nice there, but I missed a lot of familiar things from home.

  • @TheChadinKorea was it hard to adapt there when you first arrived?

  • @seoulchae It didn't take long to adapt and it wasn't very hard. The main thing is to make friends fast (either Korean or native English speakers) and try to keep an open mind. At first I hated the food but then I grew to really like it. Sure, I didn't have everything there like I did back home, but you learn soon that you don't need some things.

  • @TheChadinKorea What about the language? Do you speak fluently? I may want to go to korea for my internship.

  • @WoWashikabi Oh no, I'm definitely not fluent. I can speak enough to survive and that's about it. If I had taken classes or really practiced more when I was there, I would have learned so much more.

  • Your lucky, even if your just teaching I'd love to go to Korea

  • what were you doing in a korean school?

    it seems so funn!

  • @SUPERDORKRAINIE I was teaching English there for a year.

  • funny :D you are my destiny

  • Yes she did call me a bad person, but it was all in fun

  • i love korean kids, they are so funny and dorky!! lol i think when you asked one of the teachers to say something bad in korean, i believe she called you a bad person =p
