  • i noticed when you moved the values on the shuffle and slide knobs the cursor wasn't present. Did you use automation over ride to assign these parameters to your midi controller?

  • Great Tutorial! Thanks a lot!

btw there is also a Global Groove Button!

  • can i play with your velotitys ??

  • that computer is huge, as big as a window

  • @loombaron yes sure!windows sucks!

  • jada fire make hip hop beats!!lol

  • dear propellerheads, PLEASE finally develop a rewire patch for Win7 64bit!! thanks very much

  • @Flow198812 We did. Reason 6 is 64bit along with ReWire. If you use a 64bit DAW that uses 64bit ReWire, you're sorted now. :)

  • @PropellerheadSW Does Reason 6 64bit work with the original Mbox2?

  • @stludachris I'm not entirely sure. It depends on AVID's drivers. I would probably check out forums to see what other people who have it are saying. Reason 6 in 32bit mode will work for sure. Just not sure about 64bit mode.

  • i love this woman!!

  • Thank u,i always wanted to know how to send the grooves to the track,

    i apreciate

  • this groove is a big shit. it's out of time. it's horrible groove.

    who is she?

    i am without words

  • thanks for the input been using reason for quite some time now and still never figured out how to use that you gem and a jewel ma keep doing ya thing damn these negative clowns

  • your track is clipping, lol

  • huh what u say lady 5:01

  • Comment removed

  • this actually helped me, not so good with the reason yet. thanks alot.

  • Maybe people should be less bothered about how good their computer is and maybe a little be more on the quality of their productions, i run a laptop with a 2.66ghz processer and that does me fine for what i like, stop being so arrogant and get on with something worth boasting about, Thanks, excellent tutorial :)

  • her beat was wack

  • thank god its free... sucks to be the ones paying for reason 4

  • to tell u the truth, everything Ive ever learned in Fl studio and reason was all on my own, these people tutorial have never helped me. they do it like we knw what they're talking about.

  • why when u people give tutorials you always do it like the person watching knows what ur talking about, talk from the basics.

  • Cool!!

  • 3:28 FIX YA FACE SMILEY!!!

  • Get Down!

  • there is swing and there is noise. this is just noise... have any of you tried to knod you head to this beat... its awkward..

regroove is nice though.. i always create my drums within reason so i can put some mpc swing on them.. then i just export the midi and import it into my DAW...

  • Stoni is the sh!t

  • I got respect for Stoni as a Teacher/Preacher and MPC-series Artist. I wish Akai would have paid her to represent the real thing. Sentimental I guess. I feel like the MPC is a real instrument that is aided by computer tech- Reason is the other side of the river.

  • Hey ! How do you get separate redrum channels on the sequencer window ?? thanx !

  • @VanMocen if you havnt figured it out yet...just right click the device track in the left hand side of the sequencer and add new lane

  • thanks for sharing

  • The hell was that beat? It sounded like someone randomly punched shit in.

Macs are great for audio recording. They are built with production purposes in mind. Not to mention, Logic only runs on OSX.

  • haha! hella good comment! made me laugh so hard. the first line was enough. (I didn´t even listen to the beat)

  • If they had a baby with down syndrome maybe. Record might be a cool tool with it's simplicity (and maybe with the sl9000 styled mixer), but I don't think it will really compare with protools or anything in that category.

  • try buying it....it should work.

  • @dyukuptsov stupid pinky

  • пошел на хуй

  • you need a image mounting program like toast titanium to mount the disc image with

  • aight djtheory....

tell me which model software of protools?

    im open for all suggestions...

  • ok....this is nice...but not everyone wants to be a hip hop star.

    im a jazz/classical composer....i own a Motif 8....

Im wondering if this software can program or handle odd time signatures such as 7/4...11/4....5/8.....can you switch between these meters?

go easy on me...im a novice when it comes to music software. Im old school...we just hired musicians...lol

  • yup, you can. its very versatile

  • Thank you for this demonstration, couldn't figure out myself how to use it and I couldn't find it in any of the provided documentation (strange). Very usable!

  • What is that Midi controller she is using

  • Thanks for the clear instruction - immediately usable.

  • roll up a L

  • i'v got the same mac =D

  • fuck macs!

  • @elmaspison you cant afford it

  • @Hazmat347 i can afford a mac, its not like they are worth a million dollars you fool. i can build a crazy computer, buy software and a that korg microkontrol for what a mac is worth. you buy a mac and what do you? nothing!! people that spend alot of money on a mac computer believe they will get better results from there music. The machine doesnt make you gain talent. Its just a tool

  • @elmaspison Ummm yeah if ur only gunna use one to play Halo. But if you're going to CREATE Halo then go MAC. By the way, Halo was created on a Mac.

  • @Caliko1 the computer is only used to run the soundcard and store the music thats being recorded. almost any computer is good for that. dont you ever read the minimum requirements? any computer will do, just dont fill it up with porn websites and it will work just fine. were making music on reason not making fucken video game "halo" turn off your fucken internet and you will see just that alone makes a big difference

  • @elmaspison You can't be serious. Music production doesnt use much resources huh? You making you're music on a 80's Casio sequencer?

The Halo analogy still makes sense whether its relevant to music production or not.

If ur barely getting by the system requirements DONT BUY editing/production software. Any half monkey will know that minimum requirements will only run the most minimum capabilities of the software. For example a limit of 2 tracks on Pro Tools and no RTAS.

  • @Caliko1 and since you got a crazy computer you must be making million dollar tracks. while everyone else that cant afford a "mac" is making junk hahaha have you ever heard the term less is more? and yes my casio sequencer will probably be more reliable then your quadcore 8gb mac.

  • @Caliko1 producers and wannabe producers have been using pcs and macs since the 80s and they had great results. Have you ever heard of the term "less is more" so what if you record 2 tracks at a time, im sure alot of people do it and make great tracks.

  • @elmaspison as far as "almost any computer will do"

NOT all computers can run Reason 4, Pro Tools and plug ins simultaneously efficiently. Even a PC with 8GB Ram and a quad processor will struggle with the right plug ins running. For example, Pro Tools 8 with 25 tracks running with 10 plug ins running as sends and 3 instrument tracks running simultaneously.

And how exactly do you "fill up a computer with porn sites??"

P.S. I own both a PC and MAC. and have ran similar software on BOTH.

  • @Caliko1 why the fuck would running 25 tracks at once run down your processor so much? its when all the usbs are being used by instruments that slow down a machine and you playing all of them at once and even if you were a band why wouldnt you play one intrument at a time. are you recording an orchestra all at once haha damn look at this composer ,

  • don't forget to check out '' D-ghetto Instrumentals''..check it out ,don't forget to leave ratings and feedback...beats for my hoodfellas..

  • I just bought Reason 4.0 and a mpd 24 and a little keyboard. I was paying down for a M-3 korg 61 key. But i had to go with my budget. Also i have studio monitor speakers. Now im just waiting for my I-mac 24 inch like you have. Holla at me i never used reason before maybe you could help me. Take care Peace

  • ur such a fag

  • fuck the haters boo they make you stronger and they cant afford your 24inch i-mac they hating. Keep doing you boo talk soo intelligent sexy self word

  • thats a big ass screen

  • i got one!

  • pc is inside of the screen

  • helpful, but this lady has no groove with what she was doin

  • yes very helpful...concrete exemple!

  • People still use Cubase? Whatever.

Reason + Ableton Live is the best combination.

  • i don't remember if ableton can use reason as a vst (i try only a ligth version of ableton and for now i don't go further whith it)

  • It's not run as a VST, but it's similar.

You need to use ReWire to get both the MIDI input to bus through to Ableton and a track listening for audio coming from Reason.

  • nooooooo, reason and logic is the best combination!!!!

  • thank u

  • dam she sexyy, hope she can send me her #....lmao nah but for real

  • Comment removed

  • I ain't no racist either, but your comments about her show a primate level of intelligence and you're sounding stupid. There's nothing clever or valid about what you've said. Jerk.

  • i was refering to someone that had written that he believed her to be sexy. he has obviously woken up and sobered up and removed his/her comments.

but what exactly do you mean my comments show a primate level of intelligence and sound stupid? what part of my post is false?

  • yeah she is goin bald :D

  • Does it really matter you guys? If you care so much, close your eyes, and just listen.

  • very useful..i am just beginning to teach myself reason4 and found your tutorial helpful : )

  • thank you very much for this video stoni

  • Stoni went in hard on the Regrove Mixer

she knows her stuff Great work Stoni

yo fellas dont sleep on the sistahs

they get it in and they will make you

    crawl under a chair LOL.

  • HAHA! Stop the video at 3:29, sista is trying HARD not to laugh. FUNNY! ! Im an actor, I know the feeling when you're filming something, and you try not to laugh! Great video girl, do ya thing. Thanks.

  • that's because she knows how shit it sounds and she still has to sell it.

  • very nice way to give your trax a human feel!

    thx woman :)

  • Reason is ok but limiting. No VSTs. Ableton live all the way.

  • reason 4, REWIRED into ableton live

    all the fucking way.

  • @jadefalcon5 Or, just use Ableton Live by itself along with VSTs since Reason can't do anything than a handful of cheaper VSTs can do.

ReWire is a pain in the ass.

  • @jadefalcon5 Or just skip Reason altogether and use Ableton live by itself if you already have it.

Reason doesn't do anything that VSTs can't do. Any DAW capable of supporting VSTs is going to render Reason pretty obsolete.

  • @KevinDolin Some people prefer reasons visual layout though, its easier to set up complex chains of effects etc because you can actually plug it all in and see where the wires are going, as opposed to doing it all in some matrices or however the other DAWs work

  • this is not the only disadvantage. no yudiorecording and working.

  • reason cubase via rewire.

or reason pro tools via rewire. but thats RTAS, still, that aint bad...

  • well thats because its a hardware emulator

  • Thanx Ladyyyyyy

I'v just learned a trick that will make my prods way better!!!

    Thanx alllooottttt!!!!

  • 99% of people who use reason dont even know anyything about music at all.

  • lol! I kinda dig where you're coming from but I wouldn't go as far as to say 99% : ) My main DAW is Logic Pro but I LOVE creating with Reason!

  • Logic and Reason is the best when rewiring!!

  • i guess i must be in that 1% because i use reason, fruit loops and $500,000 say that i can make way better beats than you can and i know alot about music trust me so FUCK YOU! dipset all day soowoop

  • hmmm, i been listening to hip hip since beofre i remebered, i dont know much about the notes etc etc, but, u cant hate on poeple who may not know as much of u just because they are learning, people aint born with loads of musical knowlage, its somthing thats LEARNT

  • How are you looking at the note lanes for each individual channel of Redrum? (2:09)

Whatever I do in redrum seems to get placed on one track, so how would I assign my hi hat (for example) to channel a1?

Little help please? Reason noob wanting to learn it all!

  • you have to do it seperatly when you record it. if using pattern buttons just convert the pattern for each drum sound and move it to a new lane. clear the pattern and then make pattern for new sound and repeat. you could use seperate redrum racks. or if you are recording from midi input (keyboard) then just record one drum create new lane and record next sound. hopefully i helped

  • This actually seems almost useful in terms of slightly sending offbeat percussion notes to get a bit more of an organic feel, kinda like the artist Flying Lotus. I think it's worth giving a chance.

  • flying lotus is freakin crazy hahaha

  • and you're stupid

  • L O L

  • "its all out of time ffs!" thats the point

  • Sounds like swing music haha.

  • its all out of time ffs!

  • Nice vid. RILEYBOY BEATS

  • I said this before and i'll say it again..in music production it's not about image , it's about getting "the" sound..

  • anyone can give me the name of the INICIAL SONG?

    Thaks

  • I LOVE THOR!!!!

  • this is a bit crap isn t it?

  • aha i was thinking the same thing

she spends 5 minutes making it sound out of time : /

    "quick results" to be sure

  • If used right ReGroove can be very cool. Not every music style has a perfectly timed rhythm and this thing can give it a more human feel. Just because you don't understand the use of it doesn't make it crap.

  • She did a good job with this :)

    Cute at the end.

  • @flipstaxx

I know this is the internet, but fuck that sarcasm was really obvious.

  • it was actually good if u guys were payin attention

  • Gee well, its definitly not showing people how to use stuff. I don't think anyone learned anything here...

obviously tutorials show off the features of shit.

  • yes she is you rascist peice of shit

  • Not dope the PC makes the beat for u thats something that the producer gotta do.

  • it appears thats all it is, its makes a groove instead of yourself being creative and making your own groves, technically no matter how much it swings its programmed notes , the only way to geta real human feel is a real musician

  • you're so right. those commenting on looks are just HATERS and probably aint doing anything anyway.

    Go Stoni!

  • Keyboard: KORG MICROKONTROL

    Price: 315€ ~ 468.79 $

  • anyone know what that midi keyboard / controller is shes got sitting on her desk?

  • the beat sucks imho.

  • It's not a Mac Monitor xD It's an iMac xD

  • deimm that's a bigg ass mac monitor!

  • So does this mean you need to havenew device for every instrument (kick drum) etc?

  • i think it's pretty normal ya do ya tracks seperatly.. so ya can do a lot more with the samples alone.. for example.. adding an other reverb to a snare..then that u use on ur snare..

    peace

  • nice! that beat got attitude.

  • What beat? She just made a basic drum groove to show how to use the machine. I thought she did a good job.

  • Most of these reason tutorials are crap. The woman in this video needs to explain how to use regrove rather then just show off her own beats.

  • This isn't a TUTORIAL, this is a video ripped off the the propellerhead website that is ADVERTISING the features of Reason 4, not teaching people how to use it.

  • Well, its not ripped, since this is from the official propellerhead YT channel :)

  • Guys, think something else now. We have Re Groove. We have 4 x 8 channels = 32 (WHOA) Let's say, 8 for the drum machine .... and the rest for the other devices!!!!!!! Reason 4 IS huge after all. I haven't even learned deeply Thor yet, and now i see this too! GOD! I will start experiments right away.
  • big ass screen damn

  • oh ya fl8 is betta

  • this is so gay. the setup i mean. respect to reason 4 tho lol

  • Reasion is teh best for making lot of groove - a groove is your own sounds and personal vibes!

  • nice vid. good infoe!

  • what an awful beat...

  • I liked the first beat, the opening one.

  • Yo, that beat is nice!

  • if you say so....it just sounds a bit busy to me

  • You know what? I understand your reasoning. It is definitely not a natural beat and it is busy. I just think it's interesting.

    Peace,

  • wit her fine azz!!!

  • i got this bad bitch named Sonar, not a lot of folks know what a freak she is.... and she like to get it on with this well known freak name Reason. together we make crack.....

  • Damn she's one hardfaced looking Reason user haha

  • Well I see how it works now, but... Jeez it sounded much better straight!

Why choose a 60% Shuffle and then only push the fader up to 90% (and then add shuffle with the knob!!?)? Shurely it's better to get the hihat and the kick on the same groove?

  • yeah that's a really intelligent definition of a groove. :)

  • reason is so sexy...

  • do the beats have to be programmed within the redrum unit?? i mean you make no mention of how there are many many different ways of programming drums within reason, for example i like to use matrix units wired to specific channels within the redrum unit to do my drums visually with the matrix units.... will this still affect the timings of the drums?>?? i will experiment to find out!

  • well this sound i heard allready!all reason users sound the same, same sounds same effects !ofcourse you can do alot init!but girl i got hardware like a korg triton and more and my cubase sx records it live ,its like reason only 100000000 better, much better quality!!you should convince people to buy reason!you didnt do that!!masybe because im more pro then you, lolbut i do think a artist needs soft wich he can turns into his own with plugins

  • kool stuff i just finish work on something here check it out ready to die Gaggs on you tube holla back

  • NEVER stick with an older version of Reason.

In my experience using apps like Fruity Loops & Reason, FL always seems to be a pain in the ass for where samples go & where to store your projects. Reason always know where everything is. maybe FL has changed but I've used 3 versions & I was never totally satisfied.

REASON [imo] is by far the superior program for many 'reasons'.

And yea, Reason 4 has some really good new stuff like THOR.

  • I appreciate this vid but please explain how you got your drums on individual lanes?

  • How I do that is Just record a pass of one drum like the kick

then I can choose new lane and then record the snare thats not as musical but can be done. U can also record all the prts in one lane and then copy them and delete whats not needed

  • Cool, late reply so i kinda figured this out on my own but thanks for gettin back to me!

  • I'm fine with my version 2. I don't see the point of getting an update.

Maybe I#m ignorant, but there are no such drastic improvements for my applications, that version 2 doesn't provide.

  • Try THOR and you change idea...

  • Dear dockaiser...

    it has TEMPO automation,

    the combinator,

    the MClass suite,

    Thor AND Regroove.

It also has better sequencer AND better response. You will understand what i mean if you use it. Try a demo. You won't regret it ;)

  • Do I need Mac OS X, or could I use my 9.2 ?

  • Nice question.

    Here it says...

    Mac OS X 10.4

    at minimum requirements.

    Oh well :(

  • Combinator alone should be enough to make you want an upgrade

  • should have used a ride would have been easier... and would have sounded less "really quick"
