I just got this and was fortunately able to fix it. I used system restore, but I had to select an old auto checkpoint. Initially I just used the first restore point recommended by the restore tool, but that didn't work. When I selected a restore point about a month old it worked. This virus really pissed me the fuck off, it was very invasive. And the shame is that it's so fucking obvious. It opens that fake-ass antivirus application and asks for credit card info like I'm an idiot. Bullshit.

Unfortunately the newer versions of the Vista virus won't work with this method. Some versions actually make it impossible to go into safe mode. Also the various anti-malware software don't clean it like stopzilla, malwarebytes, norton, etc...

Another tactic is to just use system restore to an earlier date....but the virus has been designed to get around that too. Now IT uses system restore to restore itself.
