Fantastic recording. These guys improvised most of the time but it seems everything is written. Billy Cobham at his best, beautiful sound and this phenomenal groove. He can make a snare drum sing. Bullitt is one of the most boring movie I've seen. No rythm...
Another good video. I also like your one for "Hang Ups". You ever go to archive.org to get stock video? It has some nice stuff, but you prolly knew that.
A very interesting blooper to be seen here is, start viewing right at 4:06 and you'll see a white car on the right in the foreground. Then pay attention very closely as the Charger comes around the corner. The driver loses control, the charger swurves and then smacks into the white car on the drivers side, rear quarter. IF you can stop the video RIGHT AS THE CHARGER HITS, you'll see the dent in the white car. THEN blackout for a second, and then the white car has NO more DENT. Lol.
i'd suggest that you choose a better photo, showcasing the mustang, or the charger or Steve for the video sample (the one you see when you click, the little thumbs on the right of the screen)
..i know, i'd like to change it but those thumbnails are generated automatically after you upload some video and you can choose from three pics.. and those other two are even worse than the current one..
i had the same prob with some videos i posted befor, but i can see some of the youtube videos out clearly don't get a 3 pic choice, as it always is, in our case, the first seconds of the movie.
in other youtube videos, you can see that the pic was chosen from parts rather then the start...
Mahavishnu Orchestra, the breakthrough Jazz-Blues Fusion Group never played at the Fillmore East. as for Mr. Cobham he is a pure Technical Master on percussion can`t add much more. Mr. Mclaughlin`s guitar work is Extraordinary, plenty have commented it is even Divine. Check out the live performances. A truly once in a lifetime effort.
This would be a lot better if those awful car noises were absent. They add nothing.. ........Bill Cobham on the drums....A whole lot better than any of you critics will ever be.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
you know i've been playing percussion for years and i still find stanley cobham's technique to be remarkably contemptible. terrible drummer -- he has no groove for a negro.
That's interesting, You seem to be a real fine musical expert seriously! Who is that "negro without groove", that Stanley Cobham you talk about?
Here there is Billy Cobham on the drums, (and no Stanley Clarke on bass nor Stanley Jordan on guitar) but I've never eard about any Stanley Cobham, you seem to know much about that guy and his technique on drumming could you please tell us some more?....
What a high! Ahhh, to be back at the Fillmore East watching the Mahavishnu Orchestra with sweet smells in the air. Only with Bullitt replacing the Pig Light Show.
excellent. Undoubtedly one of my favorite bands ever. Also, love this movie. Find a movie match for "Miles Beyond" off that same album if you can. PLEASE.
That is one of the best sequences I have ever seen on Youtube. My favourite movie, car chase and actor combined with one of my favourite bands. What a great fusion.
Sync!!!! If any musicians could talk to each thru thier instruments Mahavishnu Orchestra is probably the best there ever was! They are tight brothers. I seen them in Los Angeles in 1973, they blew my head apart....This is a great video with McQueen and fits too well.
that was actually the only thing i did deliberately, match his look with the drum roll end.. then my mate noticed that even as he close the car door perfectly matches with da drums..
every time they show the cars going down the hill with the intersections, it's just the same scene over and over again. first it's shot through the windshield of the car in front, then from behind both cars, then from in front of both cars about a minute later. you can see they pass the green wv bug, and then you can see they turn right in front of that brown car
well it is quite scary.. even the circumstances were weird. i saw this movie when i was maybe 9, 10 years old and after all this years only thing i remembered was this chase(i even draw a picture when i was little). then when i was about 26 and decided to start making music videos, somehow this car chase was always on my mind, especialy when i was listening to this track.. then absolutly oddly my friends girl had bullitt dvd, so i riped the dvd, cut the scene, put the music in... and my jaw drop
@conqa that's what inspiration is!!! this is amazing, your story is a tell, indeed.
i strongly believe that we have a super inteligence in our sub-conscious that lead us to things like this, i mean, the video is well synched and the music totaly fits it too.
@conqa it's even crazier that the chase was done on one take & it was real...like the people driving around during that chase were just normal people doing what they normally do everyday & happen to be in a movie for it.

Awesome music! It's too bad it wasn't in the original chase scene. It would've made awesome background music.

Just sounds like music fitting the emotion of what's going on. Makes me crack a smile.

also at 4:08, the guy clearly nails that parked car, but then the scene cuts away.
i think the best part of the video is at the beginning. right when the drum roll ends, the camera cuts to the guy's face! it's perfect!!!
