so far this is the best tutorial i have found...so i am hoping you can help me. my son has a older dsi v1.4.1. we bought a new dsi the other day v1.4.3 (?). the r4i card will not work in the new one. I have reformatted the sd card and install the lastest kernel. The new dsi give me an error to power off the dsi. I have try to config and update the sd on the old dsi but will not update. I went to config then clicked on update and it does not show the disk updating. what am i missing??

@marvontae Any DS with firmware version 1.4.3 or over will not work with the older r4i cards. You need to buy a new card and check before you buy it that it works with version 1.4.3 and above. After that parent lock the DS settings so they cant accidentally update it further! I bought my kids the Acekard 2 this time around and we are very happy with them (apparently 3 is fake so stick to 2 to be safe) Good luck.

@ac0usticheaven thank you you were much more helpful then the r4i support went thru a week of emailing back and forth for them to finally tell me that it will not work i received my new 3ds r4i cards and they work great on the new dsi.can you try to answer one more question for me? i ordered another card for my nephew he has a 3ds i have set it all up and it works great on the dsi but will it work great with the 3ds or has anyone been having any problems with the 3ds and r4i card.

@marvontae Hi, it should work on the 3DS also if you bought the right card. I only have experience with the card I mentioned earlier for 3DS. You didn't specify which card you ended up buying,

@Qwtrplx You need to format first. I had the same problem at first, also ensure you have the correct kernel. I have a 3DS. I have followed this tutorial to the letter. The Card is recognized, but the games are not? They are large 3DS files. Any Ideas?

Hello , thank you for the tutorial but I still have problems , I have my R4i 3DS pocket for my 3DS , and when I do everything you say , I drag two games in GAME folder : Pokemon Soulsilver and Pokemon White , but still it sais "An Error Has Occured please hold the power button etc."

Many thanks for this tutorial it really helped me 5*. Just to let people know, my Son updated his DSi software and the R4i card stopped working! If you update your DSi console it will update the software to V1.4.3. This will mean your R4i card which has V1.4.1 or V1.4.2 on it (look at the gold star) will no longer work! I believe there are ways to update your V1.4.1-(2) card using an old DS. Or you will have to buy another card with V1.4.3 on it. This will work the same as the old card.

I have a problem with my USB adapter. When I first got it (along with my R4i 3DS) about 2-3 months ago, it worked fine, but now my computer won't even recognize it. I tried using a SD card adapter, but my computer won't recognize that either. I've found some sources online that say my micro SDHC won't work with ordinary SD card adapters, but my brother has all the stuff that I do and his adapter works just fine.
