@destinygundam2189 I mean, at the very least I wanna see how the SRW OG chars react to the various mechs that are Crossovers, like the Strike Freedom and Infinite Justice.

I liked Gundams in SEED and Destiny. Not so much of the story though. I think the gundams in SEED and Destiny are most overpowered units in Gundam universe and I like it ;)
@tyaty - Not sure about Wing Zero...I mean its a great classic and the twin beam cannons are quite OP, but lately theres a lot of OPness going on that exceeds what Wing is capable of, I mean yeah its mainly; "Lets just put a bunch of weapons on a mech and send it out", but meh, if your into the Old School models its not too bad.
god is it just me or did freedom bassiaclly rip off alot of gundams in the seiries? the shoulder beam cannons from F91, the beam guns that attache-wing zero, the chest beam from Psycho gundam...

Wrong smart one Gundam being owned by the same company has nothing to do with it every gundam series has a producer and writer. they are not all the same. many hate Destiny due to the fact they ripped things from tomino the original gundam creator and ripped Zeta to boot, japans favorite gundam series. if you actually were a gundam fan you would know that little tid bit.
And if you were an actual Gundam fan you would've seen any "ripped" material as paying homage to Tomino or retro-modernization. Furthermore, regardless of who writes or produces the show the content still belongs to Sunrise. As previously mentioned, they can do whatever they want with it.
Many words have been wasted. You're arguing that staples of the Gundam universe are being rehashed as rip-offs. It's not like there are many options for mounting weapons on a mobile suit. There's very little room for inovation in this way. Arguing that Freedom's shoulder mounted guns are rip-offs is like criticizing every mobile suit for having a hand-held beam rifle. Hell beam sabers are a rip-off of Star Wars. Instead of crying "OMG Tomino rip-off", just enjoy it.
SEED sucks. It's a poor excuse for a rip-off/homage/whatever the hell you call it. The characters are shallow and contrived, plot armor riddles the series like bulletholes from a gatling gun and to boot, they really can't chalk up even close to the original series.
Blah freaking blah blah. This argument is going to go on forever and the answer doesn't matter one whit.
I don't care if Seed sucked or if Destiny was a ripoff or whatever. What's important -- pay attention kids, this'll be on the final exam -- is whether or not you personally liked the series.
I liked both shows way better than I liked what I saw of the original series so as far as I care they're both superior to what's come before them.
I agree with you. If they want to pay homage to the creators, they can do that. On another note, I like SEED & SEED Destiny. My hopes that Chikai(The writer & directors wife) recovers from cancer soon.
Exactly, as what kernelex said, Its not ripped off, its a homage. Most series always has a masked anti hero (char, miliardo, Rau), a resilent battleship (white base, ra calium, archangel). Its just re inventing original series for the next gen viewers. That way, the new gen would take interest in the original series
thats cus they cant make a battleship as awsome as the whitebase and somebody told me char cloned himself and every century or so ones released into a high ranked military family but i dont know if thats true
considering the gundam seed and seed destiny series are side series, not directly linked to the normal gundam timeline, its not like its really "ripping" them off. and how can a company rip off its own series and mechs??? o.O
actually there are different directors and writers who make the different series. why people get mad is because the director of Seed Destiny copied alot of naterial made by the original Gundam creator thats why.
Actually... that's an incorrectly narrow use of the term. Fan service can be anything that is done not because it has anything to do with the show or story or whatever, but because people want to see it.
Kinda like bringing Mwu back in SEED Destiny, only it usually isn't quite as extensive or as bad of an idea.
Anyways, SRW is a fan franchise. Why do you think Gundam is in just about every single SRW game that isn't all originals?
This game is like Madden for us mecha fans, they all but have to make a new one every few years to take into account the great new series that come out.
So I guess accepting a role in a mecha series can come with the following caveat: you'll probably be playing that character for the rest of your career because of games like this. But I'm glad they're answering the question: what would it be like if these guys from these different shows fought with/against one another?
You make a good point it is pretty much Madden for the mechs fan. Hell I'm not a big fan of Seed or Destiny but this makes them sweeeeeet. I want more in English but damn copy right laws means the more cross over from different companies the less N.A companies wants to make them cause they have to share profits where in Japan I think they just make them for the shake of fun.
Yes, and also, it kind of helps that a lot of properties are at least partly owned by only a few companies, so I guess that makes it easier. SRW is made by the toy company Banpresto, and Banpresto has ties to Bandai, which owns Sunrise Studios, which in turn puts at least a few of these shows... so I guess the interrelationships make it easier - esp. when they know mech fans will be expecting the game to come out - guaranteed profit - which makes the extra effort all worth it to the companies.
I didn't know Banpresto had ties to Bandai. That explains a lot. Thanks. Still being force to play ROM versions of these games are driving me nuts. No one seems to translate them I barely know English. But hey least we can see the cool battles on Youtube.
I know how you feel. For a year, all 3 of us in my dorm room would crowd around my roommate's computer to watch him play SRW ROMs. I have to admit, that was one of the things that really brought us together. It's too bad that it would just be too complicated licensing-wise to release anything but original generation stateside, so we can't play it on the big plasma TV and really marvel at the cool battles. ^_^
I finally just got my first ROM of a SRW it's Alpha 1......only the first half of the Super Robot chapter one is in english. So count your blessing. I like OG for the GBA I play it on my Gamecube GBA player on mu big tv still not that great.
I've seen some of the OG anime and while it's become a legitimate franchise of its own with its own story and its own "mythos," so to speak, it's just not the point, y'know? I think the whole point behind the entire genre of mech crossover games - not just this, but the Another Century's Episode as well - was our aforementioned fanboy dream of getting these characters and their units together and seeing what kind of havoc would ensue.
True the OG stuff are unique but the crossovers are the best. Nothing like having 5 series or more of Gundam under one roof maybe a littler Getter Robo a splash of Manizer. All we western fans can do is play roms or learn Japanese.

Wing Zero weights 8 metric tons, and has decent armor as well, so it is damn fast, and tough.

Gundam Seed is one of my favourite animes. Gundam Seed Destiny was good in the first half but had a terribel ending.
I still think it's acceptable in the Gundam Univserse.
I look forward to the Gundam Seed Movie and hopefully it will be a great conclusion to the Cosmic era. But when it will be made is unconfirmed.
I also look forward to the Gundam 00 movie.
