The Yes Men made this for a speech they were mistakenly invited to give at a real conf for oil co. execs. The idea was to wake people up to the glaring lack of corp respnsblty Exxon has shown to victims in favor of fulfilling their resp to corp stockhldrs. To make it ludicrous enough to be obvious, the YM even gave each a "Vivoleum" candle, complete with strands of human hair embeded within the "wax". Many attendees didn't realize this was a hoax and accepted it at face value.
