Koi VS Cat

My uncles Cat always hangs out by their Koi pond. He doesn't bother the fish, but he does like to hunt the small birds who stop to drink from the pond.

YOUR POND IS TOO SMALL, YOUR FISH ARE TOO FAT, YOUR HAIR IS TOO GREY AND MOST IMPORTANTLY YOU SHOULD CEASE ALL CONTACT BETWEEN CATS AND FISH AS CATS EAT FISH! who cares what anyone thinks, A, they are still alive, B, Your cats shows the same affection for your fish as you do and Finally C, YOU LOVE IT!

i dont know if u already know this but whenever u clean ur filter (& sponges) u should always use pond water NEVER USE WATER FROM A TAP, because the irons & the chlorine in tap water kills all ur beneficial bacteria, & ur filter needs this bacteria to break down the ammonia (that in time can be harmful to fish). Is ur pond well aerated? if not, this could be a reason for ur fish to hang around the filter area (ie: if u have waterfalls etc:) bcos the rippling water produces oxygen on the surface

@SuperQuickStick OK, But ur pond is still too small tho mate. As a general rule of thumb, u should ideally have 200 gallons to every 10 inches of koi. And as for the filter, always have a filter that will not be overpowered by the volume of ur pond. For instance, my pond is 1500 gallons, therefor i have a filter that can manage about 20,000 gallons per hour. see what i mean?? ur pond is 250 gals, but ur filter is only for 10-30 gals. so it may be ok now, but in time ur filter will be overwhelmed

@SuperQuickStick IF U HAVE 6 KOI IN A 150 GALLON POND, THEN IM AFRAID UR POND IS WAAAY TOO SMALL MATE. I HAVE A 1500 GALLON KOI POND WITH 15 KOI & THATS EVEN PUSHING MY LUCK. U NEED TO EITHER MAKE UR POND BIGGER, OR SERIOUSLY THINK ABOUT IF KOI ARE REALLY FOR YOU. REMEMBER, THEY CAN REACH SIZES OF UP TO THREE FEET IN LENGTH & TO HAVE A TOTAL OF 18 FEET OF KOI IN A 150 GALLON POND IS DOWNRIGHT CRIMINAL. THIS PROBABLY AINT THE ANSWER U WANTED BUT TRUST ME, IVE HAD KOI FOR TEN YEARS. ITS MY ADVICE
