I can totally empathise with katherine.....my mum was very lucky....she doesn`t have the money these two do ,nor i`d have thought the best drs that it can buy,,yet with limited problems and a minor symptom ,her bowel cancer was found ,treated ,and thus far clean (touching wood!)...

@JuanMacready He also said above the neck, which is good, 'cause if it was in his lungs, worse prognosis. My dad had the same thing, went through eight weeks of painful burning radiation, lost 20 pounds 'cause his mouth hurt so bad. He's now 10 years cancer free.

I cant understand Catherine Zeta Jones not being with Michael when he has his treatment. He needs her with him as anyone does who has to have cancer treatment. She is really weak and is showing her true colours. She married Michael Douglas the star, not the man. I know its tough to watch, I have done it and will do again if necessary. I wish Michael well with his treatment and hope he gets through it.No point now blaming cigs etc. he has cancer is needs hope and help.Have compassion for him.

@brasilcork He doesn't have an 80% chance of recovery, the real figure is less than 30% for stage 4 cancers. I wouldn't bring Kirk into it if I were you because he quit smoking when he was only 33. Michael Douglas is a talentless cunt who only got into movies because of his father. I hope the cancer spreads to his brain like George Harrison's cancer did.

@JuanMacready Yes doctor, we bow to your superior knowledge. Kirk Douglas' father (Michaels grandfather) died from smoking related cancer but if Michael survives he has a good shot at a long life. He might even outlive you.

@JuanMacready Kirk's father carried a cigarette around and he used to look at it when tempted and say, 'Me stronger' but it was too late. Kirk shirked the brainwashing and has lived a long life. The Republic of Ireland was the first country in the world to ban smoking in public and they saw cancer and heart disease rates reduced accordingly. So have the countries that followed suit. Smoking is an evil addiction.

She has the right to be furious,I cannot imagine what a tough time she must be going through,along with their kids.But mistakes happen,I don't what kind of tests he took back then.Sometimes x-rays are not enough to detect cancer,you need a CT scan with contrast and all that.

For all you morons that keep dumping on doctors....get a reality check. Doctors are not god. Until someone spends a day in a physician's shoes, they should shut their mouth. You have no idea how much sacrifice it takes for them to do what they do and they deserve every penny they get (if not more).

It just cracks me up when people say doctors "make too much." Its like they want a person who gave up 10-15 years of their life to train to make as much as a plumber. They EARNED it.
