I don't get it... the narration is Herzog talking about the amazon... I don't know how/why that applies to sharks... I think it diminishes what he was saying... I don't think he was talking about nature in "general"
Watch more Herzog movies. He believes in conservationism (but not "environmentalism"), has no use for hippies (he calls them tree-huggers & whale-huggers), and uses the same mantra of "chaos and murder" when describing nature in general.
He specifically believes that the ocean is the most hellish and miserable place on earth, and that our predecessors evolved into land animals just to escape the torment.
If anything, he's much harsher on the sea than the jungle.

Herzog hates the sea, and has a pretty dismal view of the universe in general, but in a reverent sort of way.
