I saw the clips of Josh's story here on youtube, now I've watched the whole series online and are saving up to buy the dvd box sets. And I'm "old". BTW, the cooking lesson was like taken straight out of my school experience, we had flour fights and broke things all the time. But I grew up in a "bad" neighbourhood...

@corvus13 of course he's not a psychopath. He's not even a bully either. His character is obviously going to develop and we'll see that he's just a damaged soul who's been kicked around his whole life, and he'll begin to settle in. He might even have a romance with Bex.

I have a colleague who's 14 year old son gets into trouble every chance he gets. Just following the herd of other boring and bored youngsters. My colleague is at the end of his patience. I told him instead of screaming at his son to tell him that he's boring! Not in so many words of course. Also advise his son to do something totally unexpected of boys his age..

Some of this Waterloo Road stuff is good, some is not. I know kids that age these days are either stupid, trouble makers, bored out of their mind and more or over-achievers. I never understand why they never depict youngsters that are not blindly following, copying the other stupid mass of youngsters. The guy pretending to be a monkey is himself a monkey, 'coz he does what adults expect of him, that is being boring. I already like Nate, because he dares challenging his fellow students.

@thorium222 Except this isn't reality. The kids in the secondary school know that their behaviour is clearly monitored and we have a sound reward/penalty system in place. I mean, they get a bit hyperactive at times and loud but theres no where near this level of disruption. And most of them watch this show :)

Whenever I watch these kind of shows, I can't believe that these days teenagers behave like a bunch of morons and animals. It's just pure sad. I always get the feeling that the current young generation is doomed somehow. They are so different from my generation when we were young. Now I understand why people are so reluctant to have kids if they all come out to be like monsters.

@airwebreathe the media always exaggerates stuff and plus this is just Waterloo road - they need conflict to keep the storyline moving of course. Most "real" schools are nothing like this (especially not on a daily basis), so there's nothing to worry about. And plus teenagers have had bad reputations for a long, long time, and no matter how bad it may seem, they change for the better...eventually.

And don't forget, the troublemakers are always the minority. =)
