  • Why is this gender subjective? Is it possible that, from a biological point of view being that men and women both possess testosterone and estrogen, what is being said in THIS video could be switched to where the man views as the women does and visa versa? Could it just have been two humans in the "mall" without the cookie cutter roles that were assigned to them from birth by society? What if they were in the jungle? Would the woman be clinging to the man? Let's toss this baby up.

  • Dear Arachnidia,

John mentions in the course that he uses those roles to explain the dynamic, not to impose a value system on a relationship that that is the way it has to be. Many people can relate to the example, but at no point there is a judgment "this is how a relationship has to look like". We play all roles in a relationship and those could have been friends in the mall, parents and children or people in a gay relationship with the mentioned sets of values.

    Hope this helps!

    Robin

  • Dear Robin~

Sometimes I wonder if predefined roles get us into trouble. How would one describe the relationship between to beings that have no other label save that they are human? What happens then?

I would love to discuss this.
