it depends on how you interprete the word "muslim". before the organized religion of islam, the word "muslim" was not an identity, it simply meant "he who submits", in that sense to God. after islam came into organization, the word "muslim" took on a different meaning, meaning also "he who believes in God and his prophet Mohamad and in the five pillars of islam". if you are talking about the original meaning of the word, i agree, but not to its meaning coming from islam as an organized religion.
