Of course it does. But as long as he has enough airflow then it should be fine. But if he overclocks them then I am pretty sure that would not be a good set up for keeping them cool.

I'm pretty sure there is no bottleneck. I don't remember the exact numbers, but the third card in a Tri-SLI setup offeres I think 10% improvement, versus the 80% that the second card in SLI gives. So you're much closer to having two cards (200% performance of a single card) than you are to having the full processing power of three GPUs.

GTX 260 Core 216 is near the same speed for less. On a 30 inch monitor Crysis plays about 19fps on high with a core 216 and ~22 on a 280. Not worth the money.
