It's probably just hypercam that's making it look slow. O have it, and it runs very smoothly and efficiently.

if you right click the logo at in the taskbar (bottom right) then select options on one of the tabs it says wallpaper, this is where you need to change some settings to get your desrired effect

actually the software isn't Alienware, my XP Skin is however the 3D Desktop software is a program called shock 4 wave 3d, the reason it has the alienware logo in the background is because thats how i configured it, so it would match up with my XP Skin
