Some people didnt like mega man 5 that much but this was one of the mega mans i grew up playing through my child hood. I still remeber like it was yesterday, wakeing up every morning to this tune all summer long playing the shit out of this. Also Mega Man 1,4,6,8, Mega Man x1,2,5,6,7,8 child hood glory. I played Mega Man 2,3,7,Mega Man x3,4, for the first time when the Aniversy and X Collection came out.
lol i was always humming this as a child but the sad part was i didnt know what that tune was or where it came from (i 4got that i got it from watching my cousins play this game so long ago). wow this find 20 years later is legendary :D story of my life 8D
Even though the audience is often not all too positive about MM5's rather underrated OST, they all have to admit that this particular tune is one the best in the entire series.
The heroic atmosphere mixed with the sadness of this tune... even though it seems like an almost story-less game, you can almost taste the emotion and doubt of Mega Man. Will he have to fight his brother? And why?
The music creates that atmosphere, tells that story. That's how awesome it is.
@DamienThornes: Interesting. I never really paid attention to the chord progression in this song.
You know, for a guy named "Dark Man", he has an awfully upbeat stage theme. Anyway, though, this is definitely one of my favorite songs from Mega Man 5.
If you know music, here's even more genius about this song: It's in E minor and, through an AWESOME chord progression, changes into D minor and then back at E minor. Even while in E, the lead plays the B and C# notes, never hinting at C, but then the chord progression ends in C, bringing things to a new level.
@DamienThornes LOTS of classic Megaman tunes do key changes like that. Also, this one goes from Em Dorian mode (which corresponds to the D Major key) to the Dm Aeolian mode (which corresponds to a F Major key); and a three-semitones key-shift is quite common in many compositions. Just wanted to point that out. However, I do agree with you; the chord progression is awesome overall, and so is this entire theme, really.
This is my 2nd favorite behind the credits music - I thought this game had the best credits music of the series. 3rd favorite from this game is Chargeman's... all 3 of those songs have a similar feel, title music as well.
@NibblesAndCasino final boss music was ok but it doesn't have the original mega man feel like they did in MM2 and MM3 The kick ass upbeat melody followed a feel of why Proto Man betrayed him makes it feel like an epic music.
@maxpublisher Gravity man was the best stage music in MM5 probably tieing with Charge Man because it was the most memorable and I sometime hum the tune once in the while.
One way: get "not so fatso" Winamp plugin, get megaman 5 .NSF file from Zophar's domain, use WinAmp disk writer output.
There are other emulated music files from nearly all consoles. For the C64 I recommend .mp3 files from SOASC, SID chip analog filters are still badly emulated.
argh, i would be so ^____^ if i knew an easy way to get a good quality version of this theme, WITHOUT downloading multiple softwares and wrecking my nerves uninstalling and deleting them after getting the wanted theme
this theme is mind blowing

In my opinion the best Megaman theme of all time together with Megaman 2 intro theme and Megaman 3 stage select.

With the exception of can't take my eyes off you, I liked this original more than its later versions. Possibly because this is more electronic

Proto Man's so badass, he puts a giant motherfucking pair of glasses on his castle to prove his badassery.
Too bad it was a fake.

Best song in the game. One of the best castle themes in the series. One of the only reasons to play Megaman 5.

Try the Foobar2000 music player. I guess WMP and iTunes need to be unfriendly with other music formats because of DRM.
