What interests me is how Castle could have gotten away with this rip-off? Does anyone have details whether Paramount tried to sue? Apart from similarities it affected the market for PSYCHO, another criterion for bringing suit. Or does this pass as "parody." BTW, does anyone find the sound quality of this upload poor? I'd love it to be reposted with better sound. Personally I had trouble hearing a lot of the narration.
We flocked to see it 1961 on the strength of "Psycho" and thought it was truly scary . Something always bugged me, though: in Castle's memoir "I'm Gonna Scare The Pants Off America", it's said he was trying to emulate Hitchock's policy requiring that the then-to-be released "Psycho" be seen from the start. This suggests that "Homicidal" was in production at the same time which is highly debatable as this picture seemed to be conceived as another "Psycho". That said, still a good show.
@irvingklaw57 It just ended, I was watching it and got up and went to pluck my eye brows, no kidding. I saw bits and pieces of it a long time ago. And I too said both times, that man is either gay, or something is weird about him. And the teeth looked funny and he hardly moved his mouth when he spoke and his voice was strange as well. It took until just now to see the ending. hmp!
For me, personallly, the producer William Castle scares me more than his movies. Seriously. He looks creepy, strange, unapproachable. It's his eyes. Scary.
If you build it...they will come.

I saw this on TCM a few years back knowing absolutely nothing about it. All I kept thinking was "that is a really feminine man with weird teeth."
