When I was a kid, I'd heard about Clapton in LA as the Yardbirds were THE band but I didn't know much about him because he was no longer holding down the guitar chair. When "Fresh Cream" came out I bought the LP without even hearing any of it. Cream was virtually unknown. I bought the LP because of Ginger Bakers hair and because Clapton was featured whom I wanted to hear. "I Feel Free" was the opening track. I played that record's grooves off. Clapton changed everything.
jack bruce, eric clapton, & ginger baker were all perfect pitch and they knew their jobs and made themselves comfortable economically and us the richer for hearing them perform.
