Same thing happened to me on my '04 F150 right pass. door. It's an easy change out. Don't buy the cheapo (but expensive) Ford dealer part. Buy the Darman aftermarket part from Amazon. I got it for 70 bucks shipped. Installed it in an 1 hour. The Darman part is much better quality. F150 forum has lots of instructions and pictures on door panel removal. It was easier than I thought it would be.
i have a 2005 f150 lariat and i was driving at highway speeds and herd a load tering sound then a loud bang like someone threw a rock at my window it scared the crap out of me and caused me to swerve into the other lane thank god there wasnt anyone els in that lane because i would have hit them for sure. this was my driver side window and i live in oklahoma and it happend to be 109 outside. so YES I AGREE FORD NEEDS TO FIX THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a four door 04 as well and every window regulator has broken. Instead of screwing them up I used some tie straps you can secure through some holes in the door frame. It is depressing however because if I replaced the part again, like you said its designed so god awful its just going to break again. When you pointed out those cables attached to the regulator I got chills, not only are the cables garbage they have these tiny piece of crap plastic clips that secure at the ends. Depressing.
@PabloBristly Mine went out yesterday, just like yours *boom* scared the shit out of me, thought i ran over something, took mine apart today and the cheap little plastic things the cable ends go in, broke.
Ford is responsible for the quality of their vehicles. Nobody else. This is a major problem that eventually will be addressed. Sadly, it will in a district court for hundreds of millions of dollar. This is a safety issue. The window could fall at any minute for no reason. A child or adult could be tossed out and killed. Windows and windshield are safety measures, not cosmetic accessories.
@originaltexan1916 Hi bro! I have a question that You may be can help me out ...I have a f150 and every time I load up or down the glass of my window (manual) makes a loud noise like a whistle ... do you think I should change the window regulator? or can be something else?
I completely agree with you. I had a 2001 Dodge Caravan that both regulators went out. I now drive an 04 F150 and have had two go out on it. The Ford and the Dodge regulators look identical in design. It is the manufacturer of these products, not the car maker!! When mine failed I raised the window all the way up and clamped a pair of vise grips on the window track to hold it up. Bought a new one from ebay and replaced mine in less then an hour for under $70. Dealer wanted $280!
Mine just went out, at lest thats what im assuming. Driver side door, lucky me I got it home before the sky feel out. Also what part of Texas you from?
If you get a regulator from someplace other than a Ford dealership things work out good. 1Aauto.com has regulators for F150s for $76 and O'Reilly's has some for $90. It's really simple to fix yourself, but if you take it to a dealer (or buy the part from a dealer) your wasting money because it's the same old inferior part.
Has happened to my 04 ford 150 2 times as well as the plugs that get stuck in the motor when trying to change them out.......Looks my next truck will be toyota or nissan.
Thanks for the video! Unfortunately my window did the same thing and my dad had to permanently rig it shut as well until summer when I can get the part replaced.
There is nothing on your texan website except a sales pitch for ebay. Where are the pics and videos?

It's not Ford's fault that the 2nd 3rd and 4th regulator broke. The manufacturer of the regulators is where the problem is.
