It's from 1993 when I went of my brand new CBR600 on the mountain and was nearly killed.
On the official video the speaker says that I was out of hospital 3 days later - right, but only to get to a hospital in Denmark.
My spine was broken in 3 different places, all my ribs was loos and I had only half a lung that was activ.
I was out of hospital 3 weeks after the cras, but it took me one year to get back in form.

to the critics: i race bikes. its all about going fast & winning...(what ever you call winning counts too) we know its dangerous. but we love it. it personally makes me feel whole to drag my knee around fast sweeping corners. & yes ive almost died as well. but i'll stop racing when im dead. if you think its dangeroud then fine, but don't criticize people doing what they love if its not breaking any laws... and also i wish some of my crashes were on tape. ide watch & share them!

@Shaun989 Unless you race / have raced you will never understand it - I've been in to a lot of other forms of motor racing since bike racing like motocross, karting also horse stuff, skiing, waterskiing,, snowboarding and lately high power aerobatic planes and competitions but nothing comes close to bike racing I'm afraid - not for me anyway.

@Shaun989..Well put Shaun...Got back into bikes myself a couple of years ago after a long long absence(very scary off at 16 years old) & though I deem myself as too ancient for the knee down stuff I can still feel a rush banking it on bends & corners..
Too much is made of *fatals* during races-though sad it is a fact accepted by those participating-Races & track days have their own sets of rules/regs to make them as safe as possible, the inevitible is bound to happen though...

When the odds of dying or being paralysed are so high, that is when the love of fear is exceeded by human stupidity when you choose to race. Would you get in a plane if you knew it was likely to crash and burn? What a waste of life for some of these riders.

It may be Russian roulette on a bike but again, isn't that the decision of the rider? Maybe you think it's dumb but the people attempting it see it as the pinnacle of their lives because they are passionate about this type of racing. Spectators know the dangers as well since they are adults that are making an independent decision and not forced to stand there

@ShawnVanAngle No, idiots that speed through traffic like maniacs and do wheelies on crowded or residential streets while wearing no gear give sportbikes a bad name. The Isle is sanctioned, like you said, so the roads are shut down making it far safer than it would be w/ cars running around. The US would never allow this true, but it's a damn shame because many ppl would love to watch something like this. Fools to you but who are you to say they are wrong? Just because you don't agree with it?
