WoW ! One of my very favorite records, If it were not for DrDemento playing it on the radio I would've not heard of Peter Sarstedt. Amazing Artist and song, Rockingly Produced indeed ! Thank You Thank You, I Love the line, ask your Mother !
A lot of people just couldn't deal with the changes that were happening everywhere in the 1960's. Peter Sarstedt spoke for all of the prematurely elderly.
Being 12years old& I'm Justin Beiber's grandfather,/ this song played a big funny hit in Europe,Africa, the Middle East.wherever Auntie BBC radio waves reached. It was so funny, the melody even enjoyable &Peter Sarstedt was about to make a bigger hit by far with the totally humourless, pompous "I am holier than thou" hit song "Where do you go my lovely" which is heard on the radio at least 4 times a year 41 years until today. When it starts out "Where" this old-&-in-the-way-fart runs to turn it off!
We were blown away when we first heard this . . . Like you, it was on the B side of a 45 I bought. Interestingly, it only lasted on the market (here in Australia) for a few weeks before it was replaced by another PS number.
reminds me of the good old 70'es. At that time it was a very naughty song.
