How is the battery life on that camera?

@iB145am - Battery life is great, never even think about it... I charge it about once a week when I dump the card or after a weekend of heavy use. The Zx3 would take 3 batteries to last a weekend. I've never run the Zx5 down to a point of having a battery warning. At one point, I was going to test how much video and photos could be taken on a charge, but kept running out of patience... I chuckle at the people that won't buy it because of the non replaceable battery - their loss.

@backwoodsriders Kodak does have a handle bar attachment for the PlaySport zx5, its only like 20 bucks or so. now, I don't have a GoPro, but I do know the quality of the gopro is better than the PlaySport Zx5, but the playSport is considerably cheaper. you can get it on amazon for only $99 dollars. or a bundle including a floating wrist strap, Remote Control, HDMI Cable, Mini flex tripod, and 8gb memory card, for $128 (Free Shipping)

@MikolaChic The 5 is a great little camera that you can take everywhere. I have it and the Panasonic HXDC1(similar price range). Panasonic takes better quality video imo, but the Z5 is smaller and more durable. I posted some footage of the Panasonic, and will be posting some Z5 footage soon.

Hi, I have just bought a ZX5 and taken some footage, which is in mp4 format. The file sizes are enormous though...for about 4 mins it's over 300MB. This takes about 24 hours to upload to youtube and then youtube just tells me it's processing the video but never finishes. Is there a better way to upload? When I try and conver the files to another format the audio goes out of sync. Is there any software you'd recommend to make the conversion? Any help would be much appreciated.

I sooo wanted to buy one of these (a Zx5) but got cold feet and backed out due to soooooooooo many people reporting on Amzon that there's "freeze up."

I got enough head aches in life without going out and buying more.

Go Pro has a weird round affect and TERRIBLE audio, but looks really good, Zx5 looks much sharper than the Zx3, but the Zx3 either has better audio, or is just quieter so I can't hear it as well. But the Zx5 has MUCH better audio under water. Does anyone know how to change this (Like take off the round affect with the Go Pro) or disagree?

The ZX5 has an internal batterie that you CAN'T remove. I got the ZX3 with a spare battery, so i can replace it when is goes out. It happens a lot of time in a single day, and mostly when skiing at cold temperature. (battery last 30 min) I also got a charger so i can use the camera while charging the second battery. If i had more money, i would have bought a Go Pro instead. (goPro = $350 and Playsport = $125)

I was going to buy the zx5 but then I saw this video and now i'm wondering if I should get the go pro hd. How does the image quality compare to the zx5? I want to film xpogo and snowboarding videos to share with my friends and family, nothing professional. It will mostly be used for handheld recording. Which one would you recommend?

@HandyFridge Buy GOPRO... The Playsport is a pain to mount on a helmet (you have to buy a adapter on Ebay), it has no mounting accessories, you can't remove the battery to charge it for the ZX5 model, no wide angle, Go Pro has smoother image, GoPro is smaller and ligheter on a helmet, GoPro can be mounted everywhere and is totally made with sport in mind. Playsport is just for people who want to shot family swimming in a pool. GoGpro is made for REAL extreme sport people!

Thanks for this excellent comparison! This is the type of videos that I can see my family doing - wandering around the yard, filming the dog and yakking throughout the whole thing and I thought the quality in both cameras was good but did think the newer model was better. I was concerned about the built in battery but 2 1/2 hours will be enough time for us. My husband and I love to kayak and we want something waterproof that has good video quality!

Wow, there's all sorts of rave reviews on the Go Pro Hero, but I'd say that freakin' ZX5 is far better than the Go Pro....Thanks for helping me make my decision :D Would like a changeable battery on the ZX5, but oh well. Maybe one day Kodak will combine the 2.

The fur on your dog was a bit sharper and the water with the mudd was more natural and the sound was much better than from the ZX3 in al shoots.

the only thing that I hate with the zx5 is the internal battery, i don't think its gonna be easy to recharge the battery over and over again, especially if you are on holiday to a place where no power plug to be found near by.. so inconvenient for me to have internal battery.

@charlielimz - I wouldn't worry too much about the battery... I have not charged it this week (7th day today) and I have over an hour worth of videos, lots of stills with many playbacks and several video edits and it's just now 3/4 empty. That would have taken 3 or 4 batteries in the old Zx3...

Thanks so much for that!! Is the autofocus on the Zx5 on or off in this vid? I don't think I saw any problems with focus hunting, but people say that if you shoot while in a car, the focus will go onto the window and not outside the car...

@fitforsoccer000 - The only focus hunting issues I've had were in very poor outdoor lighting and shooting through windshields when raining. However, these are no more or less that with any other auto focus system... Having some kind of focus lock, or manual focus would be a bonus. We can always hope for a software update...

Water test Hey the Kodaks are supposed to withstand 40-105 no lower or higher max is 32-110F. overall. the zx-3 by far will be my cam, and p a s s on the zx-5 due to minpulations of video, sound that seems not improved at all, all they seemd to do was impliment the DIS to the Playtouch's spec, and used the same processor and chip, nothing more, continued

They changed the circuitry of sound notreally , the mic is another condensor that is enexpensive, causing a stadium, and hall effect, to tin for my taiste, as well the limitor will either cut out due to sound. Another video demostrating a bus. could not be heard, as well scooters. As the pooch barked. it was great, just over kill. and Kodak increased the db. not good. the AF held stong, but lack the Af lock, very important on af cams. otehr words Enjoyed the clip continued

Do not final your sales till you can leave room open for the next model. and if you can afford to spend the extra Dollar, that is what you must do, never settle for less.
