  • I have skied it. March 07. Icy on top and slushy on the lower part. Timing is everything.

  • The Poubelle in the `Blizzard` is another couloir. Same name, off the Aiguille du Midi. Shorter ski, but at c 11,000 feet. Not the same spot.

  • been there or skied it? 40 is pretty mild... felt allot more than that

  • 50 degrees. No way. Around 40 is closer. Been there.

  • @SuperCrackerjacks You right. Its a good ski when conditions are right. Then you have the Pas De Chevre....

  • This is the one at Grands Montets.

The start is extremely narrow, steep and always in the shadows. It is almost impossible to turn and if you fall in the beginning you will hit a rock wall further down, so don't. It is very rarely skiable from the top.

Normally one repells down to the place where the couloir turns right. Then it gets wider and flattens out a bit. The snow from this point can be nice, but is most often very soft and heavy.

I went down from the top in februari, 2003 :).

  • This couloir is west side (and not north side except the start) of Grands Montets. The snow is iced at morning and often soft, sometimes too soft, in the afternoon.

It's nice, but less the couloir rectiligne in le "pas de chevre"

  • @Lamachou Rectiligne is a straight descent.

  • Nice vid.

  • they did both this is the one they roped into, from the side just for effect.. The other has same name correct, that is one where Mike Hat. skied with his knee hurting.

  • I would say about 40 is the steepest part.
