  • Hi there, is there any materials on the web to build these signals (or ones like these) such as engineering drawings and/or electronic wiring diagrams

  • Those are absolutely fantastic signals!

  • @prorobo Hi, it's scratch buit from photos of the original structure (at Chester), the electronics depends on what control system is used but basically it's a lot of simple on/offs,

    hth

  • I'm sure you'll correct me on this but shouldn't the feathers only illuminate when the signal's showing 'clear' for the appropriate road?

  • You are right ! - I will correct you :P

The feathers light first and only when they are proved to be lit (3/5 is the minimum) does the aspect change

    hth,

  • Thanks for that....they are very effective...it's almost like being at Crewe (don't get to Widnes much....!)

  • Should they illuminate on caution as well as clear?

  • No - they illuminate in place of the main aspect, not in addition.

    hth

  • So how does that work?

  • Computer and dcc controlled

    hth

  • How are you doing it with the computer and DCC?

  • We use RailRoad and Co software and Digitrax DCC equipment.

  • Nice. I am going to use custom electronics to drive my signals. No software or human interaction involved with the changing states of the signal.

  • Hi mate Im currently putting colour light signals on my layout and was wondering if you could tell me whether you made or purchased the 2 track bracket, many thanks andy

  • Hi Andy,

the signal is scratch built - it's described in Model Railway Journal 171 if you can get hold of it.

    hth,

  • Nice lay out how do you wire the signals up? 5/5 stars by the way!

  • I second that.

  • Thanks,

Signals are wired directly to a Digitrax SE8C.

    hth,

  • looks a cool layout m8 the ground signals together with the other signals & the light in the signalbox all add to the realism factor, good stuff!

  • cool what dose it mean when the dots in a line a layed out flat??? god video

  • It means the train is taking the junction.

    hth

  • The white lines layed out flat means that there are 2 diverging lines from the signal.

For example the signal on the left has 2 diverging lines off to the right because the lights go off to the right from the mid point above the red, yellow and green colour lights.

  • Very nice shot. I'm looking forward to the cabride!

  • if you want to spice it up a little i suggest i have the camera piontd a the signals whilst trains are running, that would be so awesome!

  • I have a loco with a camera mounted in it, next time the layout is setup I will do a "cabride" !

  • sweet but what i meant was that you show how the signals operate when trains are running

  • They are working on a couple of the other videos, you are right though, not done anything specific.

  • great, please reply to my email!

  • Where can I get one of those ground (Shunt) signals? Are they Eckon?

  • They are modified Eckons yes, the Eckons are the old red + white / white, we have changed them to be red / red + white / white but the Eckons as they come are fine,

    hth

  • where can i buy one of those bracket signals

  • An aspect test lol

  • Sure is mate !! - there were VERY high winds when I was filming, I've left them in for effect.

  • What's that loud noise,is it the weather?

  • ?? - its been driven to show the available aspects thats all

  • Bloody S&T and their annuals! Alex

  • a bitty wierd
