@Hokori Hehe... a true fan... thanks, I think I get it now. I didn't realize it had to do something with suppressed thoughts and that many parts of the plot were not reality, but just James' psyche working against him. Thank you for taking your time.
I don't get it... was it a dream? i mean... she was dead, wasn't she? And what happened to the other characters? How come they were all so crazy and seem not to care about the fact that there were monsters everywhere?? Mary was a monster at the end? Who sent the card to James? I am confused.
@IronLikeALionZion: Not a dream, no; James mentally snapped after killing his wife and repressed the memory of it before the game starts--in reality, three years hadn't passed; Laura was still 8, which implies he'd *recently* killed his wife and went to Silent Hill (possibly to kill himself, possibly with Mary in the trunk). He blocked out the truth with a false story of a letter because he couldn't handle what he'd done. Silent Hill got a hold of him, though, and led him to his OWN truth.
@IronLikeALionZion: [cont'] The other characters were all mentally unstable--Eddie from excessive bullying in his life, and Angela from sexual and verbal abuse; they did care about the monsters, but we don't get a whole lot of screentime of them dealing with monsters. Silent Hill only deals with people with inner demons/issues, which is why Laura never seen saw them: she was an innocent child. Mary was a created through James to exist in Silent Hill--a representation of a sexually repressed ...
@IronLikeALionZion [cont'] James and one longing his wife; she didn't actually exist, which is way she only ever comes into contact with James and tries to seduce him into staying with her, just like Pyramid Head was created through Jame's psyche to punish him for his own sins. The letter to James wasn't real--as the game progresses, the letter disappears altogether. To summarize: James blocked out the truth of what he'd done, Silent Hill corrected that. Hope this long summary helps out! ^^
@IronLikeALionZion **Forgot to add: the reason Mary was a monster was because she didn't want to let James go after he realized the truth; she's a part of Silent Hill, and a part of James that is trying to lead him away from facing that truth. So she was enraged when he admits to her he doesn't NEED her, when she's been trying all this time to replace Mary in his heart. Or something to that effect.
At Times I don't appreciate all of the new Songs, but when that Cover by katethegreat started and played over the huge Aha!-Scene, I felt Completion in this Work. And it is sôôô much suiting what is depicted! :D

Anyone happen to know the acoustic piece that starts at 27:50? Like, where I could possibly find it? It's basically "Promise", but acoustic. And I can't find it anywhere.
@MechaRadio lol it was so important to you that you don't even know the name of the song "True". The song used is a remix of "True" - you know, that song that you don't know the name of - and it works a lot better and actually makes the scene more emotional.
omfg....what the fuck did you do with "There Was a Hole Here" during James' realization scene? That's like removing Darth Vader's theme in the Star Wars movies. That's like removing the American anthem from America. What the fuck.
It's like replacing the lead singer for Led Zeppelin with Rebecca Black! I had to stop the video after that. This is just as bad as the douche movie director who ruined the Silent Hill story.
so what the philosophy behind this game? it seems like there are some biblical references, but idk whether this game is juss for the thrill of it or more than that?
Even though the voice acting script wasn't the best, I still consider this game to have the best character development, plot and overall story. Truly a piece of artwork.

Question to the author: where it is possible to download all tracks from all three parts? Or at least to learn their names. Sorry for my English, I use the online translator. Thanks.
@Zergcheg The track names are included in the YouTube description. Most of the video makes use of our music over at Broken Notes. You can find the link to our website in our channel. The remaining songs are from other artists whom have their own webpages and whatnot. There is also Akira Yamaoka's own music for the game used in this as well.
Hey Everybody! I have just released my new electronic album “Sub-Zero” which is heavily influenced by the world of Silent Hill and the music of Akira Yamaoka. If you're interested you can listen to the full album on my youtube channel, as well as download the album for free!
okay, apparently i don't get a lot of what heappend. . .why was he looking for her in the first place, if he already knew that he killed her?why did the pyramid heads kill themselves; was it b/c he realized what he had done? why was she alive again in the end and died on her own suddenly, instead of him killing her? and why did she say she was so sorry in the end? and the last one, what was up with the blonde chick that the pyramid heads killed? i never got to play this one. . :/ - HELP
@killiotta1 Well, he blocked his killing her out of his memory due to post traumatic stress syndrome. Maria, Pyramid head, laura, and all the other monsters were in James' imagination. The only real people were James, Eddie, and Laura. They all have their own monsters; abstract daddy is Laura's monster.
After years of living without her, he imagined the letter from Mary being left on the floor.
He then realized at the end that he killed Mary and imagined it. The pyramid head's job was done.
@Nemesis0300 Laura's real. In fact, everything is real. It's James's nightmare manifesting reality, making his innermost fears and feelings real. Everyone sees a different reality, but their realities intermix when confronting each other. Laura has no real darkness in her heart so she doesn't see anything but a normal town, while James is seeing monsters to punish him for what he did. Likewise, Eddie sees people making fun of him and Angela is in a nightmare of torment and abuse.
@fungo I know everything you said. But I always interpreted it as them all not being real. I believe you, but I guess I always assumed that it was kind of ridiculous for a bunch of sick in the heart people to all meet in a town. I guess that's not really important though -- thanks for the insight.
@fungo Angela and Eddie were real... But I thought (obviously) Maria and less obviously Laura were not. Laura knows things about James and Mary without being told. She has no reason to see and exist in the Otherworld and confront her darkness. Therefore she is either a ghost or a manifestation of Mary's presence in Silent Hill. Furthermore, they were in the hospital together and Laura might perceive time as having essentially stopped at the moment of her death. I theorize Laura's dead like Mary.
holyhat. i just saw this first time and just noticed that the music i sent Fungo at the was what i found. wow. the end hot pocket one. i am amazed at that.
@ARIZONAMIKED777 That was an excuse. What he really wanted was her out of his life. THAT'S why he's being punished, if it were a mercy killing, then James would never have been punished by the town.
Hey--I had a question about one of the tracks you used. What's the rock track you used that starts at 21:04? I know that all of the tracks/remixes come from Broken Notes, but they don't have them available as individual tracks--only as full albums. Could you tell me which album this track comes from, and if there are any more like it in the Broken Notes catalogue? Because it's friggin' awesome. And excellent editting job in terms of its placement.
@CrypticIdentity The song is called "The Mist" from Broken Notes Melancholy and is sung by Derrick Koo. Just to clarify, some of the music in the film is not from us and is provided by other talented artists within the Silent Hill community. Thanks for taking an interest in us!
Fantastic. Very thoughtful of you to put it up for other folks 'round the world to enjoy. If I knew another language, I'd totally watch it in every language available. ; )
