its that good im glad its not been a single, as it would have struggled to hit top 40 anyway due to state of music nowadays.....lets keep it as our secret..........
@mattlinnell don't worry my dear friend of Pet Shop Boys, this song will be release in 2011,in a new album called Lessons from the past, present & future. The new album have 10 songs. The 1st single is called Chilean Government, the 2nd single is This used to be the future & 3rd single is called Twentieth Century.
I agree that this is one of the best bonus tracks of all time. Their work with Zenomania was incredible.
On my way out of the show they played in Los Angeles on the Pandemonium tour it dawned on me that they have not yet peaked. We have perhaps decades of incredible PSB music to look forward to.
I agree about the quality of this bonus track. The work they did with Zenomania is just stellar. When I walked out of their show in Los Angeles on the Pandemonium tour it dawned on my that the Pet Shop Boys have not yet peaked. This song makes a good case for that.

fantastic music as usual . lyrics are spot on with what the problems are in this world especialy religion . some of the pet shop boys lyrics are very political and on the ball . a lot of my freinds are very suprised when they here some of their material . way back to surberbia , shopping, kings cross , right up to now with this and intregal etc . brilliant ,music you can not only dance to ,but think about to . no wander they are so popular ,they appeal to many .
What a song to dance to into the next decade... *sigh* 25 years ago as a little boy, I thought I'd have a flying car now and would go to some lunar colony for the holidays... Where's all that now? XD Funnily, no-one apart from William Gibson really thought about the Internet. And even the man himself didn't think about mobiles. From space age to our weird age... ^ ^
@CaptainFootos . We just share the same feeling ... :-) !!! I'm probably older than You (i'm 44 now), and i can remember exactly what i was expecting from the future ... it was the end of '70s / beginning of '80s ... If You only considered all the popular Sci Fi series of that age (i especially think aboit Space 1999), well i dreamt of a future with fantastic technology, the flying cars You're talking about, modern buildings, wonderful towns with futuristic archtecture ... what did go wrong?
@HumanSoftware I don't know... Maybe the stuff we thought of as progress just isn't lucrative enough (especially manned space travel). It's such a corporate age today... And corporations think about profit. They lack the vision men like Wernher von Braun or JFK had (alright, there WERE political implications, but they still had visions!). Good to know other people also think that we're living below our potential. Maybe mankind will rise to expectation after all. Ciao to Italy!!! ^ ^
see you in manchester tonight iv been lucky enough too av seen many bands from the clash to the stoneroses and the pet shop boys are fuckin dynamite live
Wow! I have got the 'Yes' album and I didn't even know about the existence of this track. I am a huge fan of The Human League and I also like Pet Shop Boys. So, this is a wonderful collaboration. I like the way how Philip Oakey's vocals have been processed in PSB style in some places.
I've been spinning this track non-stop in hopes more people will catch onto it. That Industrial inspired break with Phil Oakey is just so brutal and fantastic! The lyrics in general are really brilliant. It's like Synthpop come full circle!
I agree with Cogency1 - it would be wonderful if Pet Shop Boys wrote the music for a major fim.
PSB have a real habit of producing so called B side songs that are actually better than the A side release which is already fab.
This is the best from the whole Yes package like "Fugitive" was from Fundamental. Also "After the Event" is better than the fab "Did you see me coming"
This is an absolutely brilliant song! Pet Shop Boys AND Human League together? Wow Synthpop heaven for me with my favourite two groups! What a shame they WON'T be doing this song at the O2 concert on June 20th! I was hoping Phil might make a guest appearance on stage! Perhaps the boys will do their own PSB exteneded remix of it....go on please! a nice 8 or 9 minute version would be brill !!
There is one slight problem with Pet Shop Boys, though. They are not a good live band. They are just good at making strikingly good records. Whereas, The Human League are awesome live! .
YES is an Outstanding album. I am glad I got the limited edition CD with the bonus tracks. PSB remixes are always fun. I've loved this duo since '85. It would be cool if they scored a major film.
Now religion and nuclear energy have united, Oh god.. AMEN

It's was good to see Pet Shop Boys embracing Analog - eventually. When I first heard this, I thought it was a Vince Clarke remix.
Well, keep it up lads - lets hear a lot more analog in the next album

It's not what I would call meaning - as it is conveyed in such an imperceptible way.
But there is a lot of meaning. This used to be the future is so true, can be melancholic, euphoric, links today to our youth dreams.
Anyone knows where the bus picture was taken - looks very "continental".

@brightyoungthing72 It 's a SL Stockholm public transport bus - always filled in rainy weather ;-)
