  • i live in the city with no friends and family but i dont watch tv, i go on the internet

  • I have dreams that I live in NYC, and I'm someone else. This song is what I feel like when I have them.

  • JON WEST

  • I think everyone should listen to modest mouse. The lyrics make me think in a different, more abstract way about life.

  • This summer was fucking amazing. I ran around Munich like a drunken American idiot, listening to this song (whole album) running through the streets and having THE GREATEST time of my life. Modest Mouse is perfect for any occasion.

  • this song is fucking slick

  • I remember hearing "Sunspots" in '96, 14-15 yrs old. My brother watched them at the Chameleon Club in Lancaster, PA. That's was a gnarly little city around that time. this song, as usual with MM, is phenomenal.

  • my favorite part of the song is the very end :)

  • who else noticed the I came as rat reference at the end?

  • @Happymealify its a 3 inch horses/two faced monsters reference

  • @KingFishGuy Are you sure? It could be both. In I came as a rat actually has the line im not sure, but i've been told you never die and you never grow old in it.

  • @Happymealify so does three inche horses but its weird, i came as a rat was released in 2000 and three inch horses in 2001, but click the link and listen to it, the end of this song is like taken from three inch horses

  • @Happymealify i had put a link but they didnt let me put it in the comment idk why, listen to three inch horses great song too

  • @KingFishGuy I already listened to it before. I like it. It is a good song, but I didnt see a connection besides the layered vocals.

  • @Happymealify oh well idk it sounds to me like it was taken straight from three inch horses, but no youre right, its from i came as a rat since that came out before three inch horses

  • @KingFishGuy

    See my below comment.

  • @Happymealify

The clip at the end of the song is taken DIRECTLY from 3 Inch Horses. The lyric is also in I Came as a Rat.

But there is no way of knowing which song had it first, but I'd almost guess 3 Inch Horses. The song 3 Inch Horses is off of Everywhere and His Nasty Parlour Tricks, and it is a song made during the recording sessions for The Moon & Antarctica (I Came as a Rat was on it).

So I'd bet they made 3 Inch Horses, scrapped it, then threw the lyric into I Came as a Rat.

  • I wanna remember to remember to forget you forgot me will always be my favorite part in this song. I love modest mouse

  • Somehow i always knew good music would save the world. Please learn about the Zeitgeist Movement and the Venus Project.................. well of course first TURN IT UP!

  • hgbhgvg

  • MODEST MOUSE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <33333333333333333

  • Weed is a plant. A plant a man can grow. Were you born on Earth? You have a right to plant what you want as a natural man or woman. Plants are wonderful, the human race couldn't have come into existence without them. However, this magical plant that brings people together. Currently marijuana is not regulated. This clearly results in situations such as America's 3rd War, which should be the first priority. Legalize mariujana and eliminate the drug gangs in Mexico, and prosper economically

  • @sk8t3xas Cocaine and Opium are both derived from plants too, as are many extremely potent poisons. Just because something is a plant doesn't mean it's healthy or natural for humans to ingest. Also, marijuana is far from the only substance Mexican drug gangs use to prosper economically. In fact, because it's so widely attainable in the US (despite its illegality), and its relative ease to grow and transport, legalizing it would have virtually no impact on the Mexican- American drug trade.

  • @rockon6191 so you're saying we should legalize all drugs? I CONCUR!

  • @universalsingularity That's sort of the opposite of what I'm saying. I think it would eventually cause a societal collapse, as tends to happen in a civilization with no moral or ethical standards.

  • @rockon6191 True, but theres a key difference in Methamphetamine and Cocaine/Opium. But when it comes down to it...were all just chemicals and minerals anyways.

  • Like the pixies they have a good sound, but their music is tainted by the retardation of their childish lyrics. :o

  • @gazz12345a

I really hope that's a joke. Isaac is one of they greatest lyricists ever. Listen to their entire discog and you may actually realize it

  • @gazz12345a

    LMAO!

  • @gazz12345a How is the line "The universe works on a math equation that never even ever really even ends in the end. Infinity spirals out creation. We're on the tip of it's tongue and it is saying 'Well, we ain't sure where you stand, you ain't machines and you ain't land, and the plants and the animals they are land, and the plants and the animals eat each other.'" childish?n That's pretty fucking brilliant.

Besides the Pixies lyrics can be nonsensical as well. Simplicity is a good thing. :)

  • @gazz12345a plants and the animals they are linked* Sorry.

  • @fullmetalfunk Are they really? Thank you captain obvious. F'king magnets, how do they work? :p

  • @gazz12345a Oh I'm so sorry. I had no idea someone pissed in your cornflakes this morning. Or are you just a douchebag?

  • people really need to stop talking about drugs is lame

  • I don't know but I've been told, "you'll never die and you'll never grow old"

  • slow motion for all!!!!!!!!!!! fuck yeah modet mouse!!

p.s. you all know modest mouse smokes weed right? just saying, isaac brock has said so. so whether you enjoy it on drugs or not, there's really no sense in arguing about its, it doesn't change the music it only changes you, its still the same sound waves comin out of the speaker. its good both ways cuz its fuckin modest mouse.

  • Love it :)

  • genius

  • "I want to remember to remember to forget you forgot me"

    -Genius

  • why are the two top rated comments the exact same?

  • @st0nerrxkx because one person writes a witty comment that everyone votes up. Then a few months later (in this case, a whole year) someone else takes it and for some reason everyone votes that one up too.

  • @st0nerrxkx I don't know

  • Helmets? Seatbelts? Steel dashboards? Screw it, this is America.

    Silly 1950s safety videos.

  • the camera is like stalking everyone on bikes..... oh who cares i love modest mouse

  • modest mouse is my drug

  • Yes.

  • THROUGH THE CRACKS IN THE WALL, SLOW MOTION FOR ALL

DRIFT OUT OF THE FALL, SOME SMART SAID NOTHING AT ALL.

IM WATCHIN TV I GUESS THATS A SOLUTION. THEY GAVE ME A RECEIT THAT SAID I DIDNT BUY NOTHIN

SO RUST IS A FIRE AND OUR BLOOD OXIDIZES. MY EYES ROLL AROUND AND AROUND ON THE CARPET.

OH HIT THE DECK ITS THE DECAL MAN! STANDIN UP SIDE DOWN AND TALKIN OUT OF HIS PANTS!

  • i like you. =]

  • i dont need drugs to enjoy mm either. cant say it isnt better with drugs because i never listened to mm with drugs. but when i listen to mm i feel like im on a good drug. or maybe i just feel good. comfortable. at one with myself and the world while opening to whatever world i want to think. modest mouse does that for me. i love this band.

  • @hellohell77 I agree! MM is such an amazing band, its magical. I don't need any drug to love them, but I can say that after a bit of thc gets in your system, its like the best thing in the universe. (:

  • mm is good sober and even better on drugs.

    case closed, kids

  • @equallyeasilyfuqyou why because you say so? I can't enjoy music on drugs it clouds my ability to think. Sorry if you need drugs to enjoy there music to the fullest that is a shame and a clear sign of addiction.

  • @desembodic that's good for you, now fuck off.

  • @desembodic when i smoke "drugs" it in no way clouds my mind. in fact, quite the opposite. you sir, must be an idiot.

  • @PaintballOwnager well it does cloud your mind this is proven, hallucinogenic drugs is making your hallucinate poisoning your mind in essence clouding it from reality and ability to think clearly. You don't NEED drugs to enjoy good music thats a really poor mindset. If you want to do drugs to have fun thats fine they CAN be fun but you don't need them to enjoy music.

  • @desembodic State the fucking obvious man.....

  • oh my

  • Modest Mouse is awesome when sober, but it is even better high. Or even drunk. It's so much easier to get lost in the music when you're able to focus your mind on one thing and just float on and get with it. This album is the closest i can get to feeling high without actually taking anything. Thank you, Modest Mouse.

  • SALT LAKE KIDS RIDE BIKES TO THIS SONG!

  • I'm watchin TV i guess thats a solution

they gave me a receipt that said i didn't buy nothin!!

  • Seriously, the solo at 1:14 is probably the best solo ever. It's not even melodically complicated, that feeling and rhythm just matches the song perfectly.

  • i get the chills every time i hear that ending.

  • The ending of this song is the highlight for me.

  • Would you agree that Lonesome Crowded West is their best album?

  • YA MAN... first MM song I heard was Cowboy Dan. I dig all their stuff. Everything they release is great.

  • @Durtmang that is a great song

  • @panicjohn :P

I actually like building nothing out of something the most

  • @panicjohn

personally my fav album is "this is a long drive for someone with nothing to think about" songs like "lounge, beach side, the ionizes & atomizes, talking shit about a pretty sunset, space travel is boring" set me in a special chilly "idonotcare" mood

btw my fav EP is probably "Interstate 8"

  • Totally agree. One of the only albums I've listened to religiously since high school. I swear it gets better every time.

  • @panicjohn /agree

  • @panicjohn I like the moon and Antarctica the best. But lonesome crowded west is a great album.

  • @panicjohn i would agree that lonesome crowd west is the best album of all freaking time

  • someone smart said nothing at all

  • love this song its amazing

  • you are sorely mistaken there. modest is most definitely not in the family. i sure as hell am tho.

  • you're just mad cause your mom is a whore and gave you gonnorhea this morining.

And if it's the word I think you're looking for, it's gigolo.

  • stfu you fuckin idiot

  • nope Modest Mouse is awesome your a fag who likes Insane Clown Posse

  • I feel bad for you because you think juggalos are 'hip' so what you like has to be 'hip' and you simply state that it's all the same, you are afraid to be an individual, and you're probably dumber than the people this song was meant for so you don't understand it

    sad

  • lol

  • i fuckin love this song

  • FUCK YOU THEN

  • I don't understand, are we supposed to care about your opinion or something? Why would you even waste time posting a comment like that, in the time it took for you to type that you could've put a shotgun to your head and pulled the trigger, how inefficient.

  • loltroll. Are comments not a place to voice opinion? Whether good or bad in nature.. I really don't see your reasoning. Why are you so fucking pissed? Like you're full of rage. It's annoying. I don't own a shotgun, but I wouldn't mind someone using one on you right about now.

  • You act surprised to receive a hostile response after leaving such an idiotic comment about how you dislike Modest Mouse on a Modest Mouse video. What were you expecting, acceptance? That's like if I were to pay money to go to a Miley Cyrus concert just to yell "Miley Cyrus sucks" over and over. Who the fucks going to care? So to answer your question, no, the internet is not where you voice your negative opinions, real life is. Unless youre ready to get your ass chewed out by fans of good music.

  • Google search: troll face

  • So what, is that like a self-portrait of you or something? What the fuck does that have to do with anything, other than to prove how much of a raging nerd you are. Way to post a completely irreverant response, I guess that's just your way of saying you've got nothing left to argue and that you were wrong all along, but at least you can admit it. Now piss off and let me enjoy this video.

  • lolumad?

  • Modest Mouse is my favorite band ever, this song is amazing. So intense, and yet somehow melodic. amazing

  • i fucking love modest mouse

  • I wanna remember to remember

to forget you forgot me ♥

  • ..I'm gonna look out the window of my color TV. :)

  • What's strange is that it makes sense. Only Modest Mouse is able to pull that off :D

  • This is good old school s#!t

  • ''im gonna look out the window of my color tv.''

that lyric always gets stuck in my head.

  • orgasm in my ears!

  • This song is like ear sex!

  • hammer song

  • ilikeyoudurtmang!no,iloveyou...=)

  • im gunna remember to remember to forget you forgot me...another unforgettable lyric ...

  • i guess i like you....i guess

  • i like you but i dont love you

  • He uses the backing vocals/layered tracks to hide his lisp because he used to be ashamed of it... Foolish

  • It really just makes him sound like he has a cool accent, in songs like Satin in a Coffin. Kind of Cajun.

  • so much feel in their songs. MM is really music that grows on you over time. Moon / Antarctica one of my fav records in the last 10 years.

  • favourite record period has this song and 3rd planet

  • yeah you are right i never noticed them much on this song but it really makes it.

  • I love the backing vocals in all their songs.

  • From someone who really analyzes vocal arrangements in songs, you have no idea how true that is. Isaac Brock is one of the most creative and best artists around when it comes to emphasizing his pieces with backing vocals. "Alone Down There" is a really good example.

  • true

  • i Love 1950s, i love modest mouse i dont know if i like you.

  • such a creative song and sound

  • idk about theese wierd ass videos but modest mouse is the best

  • ok so this video is random as hell

  • Always love the song. What is this though, some sort of old video on Bicycling safety? Lol. Fun combo I suppose

  • i dont need drugs to enjoy modest mouse...

  • maybe not but it does make it even better

  • Me too, but it doesn't hurt either.

  • Scruff McGruff says drugs are bad!!!

  • it orgasms my ears without drugs

  • @zachy3621 i think sex makes you orgasm, not drugs?

  • @tablefor2please Proper termonology, Eargasm

  • @LTMTutka who would?

  • @LTMTutka

Me too. But it does make it better.

  • hell yeah man i did that but i prefer dramamine thou

  • Dramamine is nice its a great song

  • Try it with soberness marvelous

  • Be sure to post that vid, Id like to see how this song goes with a skate vid

  • watch justin roy's part in foundation's "art bars"

  • i swear there was a skate vid on youtube with that song, all i remember was that it had something to do with Foundation, and the vid was awsome, but the uploader took it off.

  • best song of Modest Mouse with Alone down there!

  • Alone Down There and The Cold Part followed by this are my favorites. This whole album is by far their best, the whole thing is so good.

  • the album isn't radio friendly because it is to complicated but i think it is my favorite album ever

  • I LOVE YOU!

  • i want to remember to remember to forget you forgot me. wow that really hit home with me. <3

  • I heard this song via itunes preview a couple of years ago. It gave me chivers, I went out and bought the album at my towns only record shop for $20, and I do not regret one penny of it.

  • riley, he was quoting the song stupid, the last 2 lines in the chorus goes:

Oh hit the deck, it's the decal man

Standing upside down and talking out of his pants

look up the lyrics next time so you don't look like an ass

  • yeah dickhead

  • i can talk out o ma pants tooooooo!

  • it was good. a little anticlimactic, but good

  • kickass!

  • awesome

  • love the song :D

  • This song is amazing what bicycles jkjkjkjkjkjkjkjkjk.
