1st: how do u know if ur computer is USB 2.0 or 3.0? 2nd: what cables wud i need to record using an HDMI cable, while getting the audio. plz respond, i plan on getting it tonight, n this is the only HD cap card ive seen with HDMI cable slot
guessing it does have a hdmi passthrough? like i can play and record at the same time??
I had hauppauge before. I was annoying with the component connection(hdmi looks better) and that thing used to randomly freeze so much during recording. sold it lol..
@aeyst no it will not it must bne usb 3.0 on main bord pci express will not work i have the spec but not the ports if you like try test if it will work on a pci express card go a head
@RMJGaming Backwards compatible means you can use a previous generation device ; usb 2.0 ;in the new generation connector. This device requires too much bandwidth for usb 2.0. You will be wasting you money if you try to plug this in a usb 2.0 port.
@aeyst My motherboard is an Intel H67 which is better than the specs required given by Blackmagic on their site, will it still work If I already have USB 3.0?
@RMJGaming No, this will not work with usb 2.0. it says that everywhere in the description for this product and even on the box. You cannot pipe uncompressed HD video over usb 2.0
lol got mine yesterday! And it wont work O.o And i contacted support and all they said was to return it. Like WTF dont even try to help. Well w/e. Now to get the drivers installed again.
@EmptyGamingHD It will work, unless you have a hardware issue. Disable antivirus/antispyware and User Account controls. I think you don't have the minimum hardware specs, and that is why they told you to return it. If it were broken hardware they would have told you to send it in for repair. If you do not have USB 3.0 and X58 then purchase and Intensity Pro PCIe card.
@MrBBG123 Nope, no video seen in FME during setup, and errors. I'll post a video so all can see, that webstreaming does not currently support USB 3.0 devices.
So wtf, ...so gay how you HAVE to have an X58 motherboard with usb 3.0 integrated or an X58 mobo with a pci usb 3.0 card :( I really want this but I have a dual core :(
See:
Installation: USB 3.0. Requires an x58 based motherboard with onboard USB 3.0, or a USB 3.0 PCI Express card and an x58 or P55 series motherboard. Does not support USB 2.0 capture and playback. Please check the Support pages to see the full system requirements.
@GTXNate no u just use a usb 3.0 pci thing, even if that is true though, u need to realize this is new technology and wont work on old computers get with it.
@GTXNate no not an adapter a USB sata card they have one called the U3S6(USB SATA 6) and it works with almost every asus motherboard and hdmi>component so it can be that much better ;)
@GTXNate lol...dude...what im saying is they most liekyl didnt know you can can PCI usb 3.0 addon things and those motherboards are the only baords with usb 3.0, so they assume u need that mobo. But with a usb 3.0 pci card you most liekly wont need one.
@whatniqqaplease Nonono, they did say that u can! You CAN use those if you have an X58 motherboard or a P55 that DOESN'T have USB 3.0..ya know what I mean? like, If I went out and bought that pci usb 3.0 card and tried it, it wouldn't work. You MUST have an X58 or P55 motherboard to use those pci cards with the Shuttle.
@GTXNate look, it needs to be usb 3.0 to transmit all those signals from hdmi or something. And usb 2.0 is to slow, which is why its usb 3.0. But anything plugged directly into a pci slot(blackmagic intensity pro) is fast enough to capture hdmi. So plugging a usb 3.0 into a pci slot would make it work. Also, some p55/x58 mobos have usb 2.0, so do u think it would still work?
@whatniqqaplease omfg, im sorry..but you just aren't getting it. This is copied exactly from the site. I have no idea why this is but this is what it says..okay?
Installation: USB 3.0. Requires an x58 based motherboard with onboard USB 3.0, or a USB 3.0 PCI Express card and an x58 or P55 series motherboard.
See how it says "Or a USB 3.0 PCI Express card AND an X58 or P55 series motherboard" It does require those motherboards...I am done arguing with you about this lol.
@GTXNate okay kid, look. I emailed blackmagic and asked them if an addon card would work and they said it would work as long as its not a usb 2.0 to 3.0 adapater thing and its an actual usb 3.0 slot.
Uhm, I don't think you know what you talking about. GTXNate is right, you do need an x58 or P55 motherboard. Don't reply to me because I don't want you to flip a bitch.
hey I was wondering are you having problems with your intensity shuttle because Im having trouble to get video from it, only audio. people on forums are having the same prob to

Thank you for this video, as i was going to buy this.
The problem is i dont have usb 3.0 and cant have it, both my laptop and computer are too aged for it.
As a computer major i already know that even if i bought a pci express usb 3.0 and installed it, it still wouldnt work due to the motherboard.
At anyrate unless you got a top notch system this sucker isnt for you.
