Im elated to see all of the great comments about when R&B really was for lack of a better word "bangin".I saw the Rude Boys with Levert & the Ojays backin 90-91.What a great show.Hey does anybody remember those outfits they wore that looked normal in the front but when they turned around, they were see-thru?Lol the ladies went nuts, all they had on were their briefs!!!!!!
This is thier second number one R&B hit in 1990, "Are You Lonely for Me," written by Joe Little(group member) and Tony Nicholas. The Rude Boys also toured that year with Levert. The album itself was just one spot below the Billboard R&B top 10 spot, where it sat comfortably at #11 in the spring of 1990.The group have reunited again. The talks started after they performed at their mentor Gerald Levert's funeral. All four original members performed. says uzipolo king of decatur
Dang! i remember hearin most of these songs when i was younger. O man the 90s music, good times. I jus get so sad wen i thank about the good ol days( Mr. Brown voice) lol
Sean, I LOVED that song by the Rude Boys!!! They were so underrated, but you know how I do!!! LOL And I liked Blackstreet too, but Teddy Riley didn't know how to stay in one group for a long period of time!!! LOL One minute he's apart of Guy, next minute he forms Blackstreet, then back to Guy again, only to leave before the promotion for that album is done!!! LOL Great throwbacks dude, can't wait for vol. 2!!!
Thanks Kev. You can tell Gerald Levert produced the vocals on the Rude Boys track. As for Teddy, I agree....he was all over the map. Can't deny the talent from both groups. Too bad they didn't stay together.
@seand67. I agree. You could definitely tell when a particular artist in the 90s produced a certain song, because the song would reflect their own style as an artist.
Man, they would've been off the chain . That particular era had a lotta extremely talented artist with really good music, but unfortunantley a lot them were fly by night acts. Recall Shai, II D Extreme, Lo-Key, and several more. I wish a lot of em could have stuck around. R&B needs a savior!!
@tincredible the ONLY artist that was success out of that era is Mary J Bliqe and i agree and i think that you were nice(lol) by just saying those few artist when in fact it was TONS of em coming out the box i think Intro was the truth and Aaron Hall as a SOLO artist blows all of em out the frame with talent he penned bobby brown song My Prerogative says uzipolo king of decatur
@thruthealcove In 1999, Riley and the Hall brothers reunited to release their first album in nine years titled Guy III. The album featured the modest hit "Dancin'", which peaked at #22, becoming surprisingly their biggest hit on the pop charts. However, the album was poorly promoted and as quickly as it was released it dropped from the public consciousness. The group disbanded again soon after, but reformed periodically from 2005 onwards, and despite rumours, have yet to release another album.
Thanks. The 1st song was a minor hit in 1990, while the 2nd cut caught my attention while driving home last night. Haven't heard the song in years and it still makes me smile. Great singing, lyrics and more on these 2 songs. Real music never goes out of style!!! Peace

You are sooo right! Teddy was/is a genius who defined late 80's/90's R&B music; but dude lacks stability.

I often wonder how HUGE Guy would've been if the 3 members stayed together for about 10 years.
