  • Heart of the cards Yugi....

    Oh wait

  • What did Mateo say at 1:17?

  • @tchzykhwsky

Sounded like "I think you have more finals than I do."

  • @tchzykhwsky

it's you have more fans that in do

  • wow dam

  • bienvenue dans la team pro PS Yellowhat

  • I still think the correct play was to sac mutavault and save both forge tenders. He can attack twice then fog dragons. Gives him another draw at cloud goat.

  • This guy believes in the heart of the cards

  • @doodoohead6969 if you dont like it, what the hell are you doing watching it?

  • @darkprince909 I typed in gayest shit ever looking for a laugh and this came up

  • @doodoohead6969 You like watching gay shit for fun?

  • @TreeSquid006 yea its pretty fun man.

  • @doodoohead6969 woah! We've been informed that this is indeed gay shit, we need to inform wizards so they stop doing these kinds of events. We dont want other people who have no interest in this type of things to find out that we keep doing them.

  • @KoFFreaK yea dude u better cut this shit out or u'll never get any pussy. we gotta help these people out. get u guys off all the cartoon porn and magic

  • He charmed at that pro tour... absolutely predestined to win.

  • Comment removed

  • .....this guy

  • Gabriel Nassif = the protagonist

  • 2:50 Must be nice to be that good at Magic.

  • They both have pretty great wizard names.

  • @Blackstarr580 yeah, this was the QF. Nassif went on to beat Akimasa Yamamoto in the SF and defeated LSV in the final. Video of that is online too - it's a very fascinating match to study (though it doesn't have any individual moments as cool as the "called shot").

  • The same happened to me... except it was a Splinter Twin

  • @GKBrful not impressive. 5cc actually took skill to pilot vs. Kithkin. :P

  • god, all the games ive seen nassif in, i swear he's the luckiest magic player in the history of magic lol

  • 1:27.....does he came ?

  • randy buehler is the most annoying person in the world

  • @chrismasterith trust me, annoyance is a common trait of magic player; he's not at the top.

  • Nassif actually didn't lose if he doesn't topdeck ultimatum that turn - if he draws cryptic command, he can tap down Oronsi-Jones' attackers and draw a card and hope ultimatum is in one of those cards (draw from command, draw for turn)

Still a hell of a topdeck.

  • amazing.

  • Poor Orsini-Jones. He's always on the losing end of these topdecks.

  • so that's where yugi got it from lol

  • nerdgasm

  • @TheWinFailure same thing happens on ESPN's WSOP Main Event coverage all the time, except u don't call Poker players names like nerd. It's all about probability, thank to ur double standard.

  • @TheWinFailure Nothing wrong with a good nerdgasm every once in a while.

  • Sick from the stakes point of view.Conley's explosive revelations into emrakul runner-runner is pretty ridiculous too

  • Topdeck Hero

  • And now Nassif is a premium writer and Orsini-Jones just does those draft videos (which, for the record, I like).

  • matteo sucks

  • He Craig Jones'd it.

  • what would have been awesome (not that it wasn't already) would've been if he tapped his lands before looking :D

  • @zakarath01 true. but then he would have felt pretty silly if it was Cryptic and he was tapped out for MO-J's final attack step. Nassif can get goofy but he's not a fool and there IS a Judge sitting *right there*. :P

  • Cruel Ultimatum... how appropriate.

  • Believe in the card of the cards!

  • "Off the top! Wow!" Sounds like double rainbow guy. "Cruel ultimatum, all the way!"

  • prob one the most epic games ever

  • nassif is soooo lucky...

  • The genius of this is that if it hadn't been Cruel Ultimatum, no-one would remember this at all.

  • David Blaine would rape at this game.

  • @skiie Blaine was a fraud to begin with. Compare Magic player to trickster is an insult to the game.

  • You just got F'd in the A!!!

  • That was a great pull!

  • Holy Honululu Batman! LOL XD

  • your making mother jokes on the internet.

    'nuff said.

  • @Ffancrzy ur sucking the dick of some magic player you dont even know on the internet.

    'nuff said

  • am i the only one that thinks this guy is a cheater?

  • @vegetin01 Yes. Nassif is a consummate pro. You are a tool.

  • @Ffancrzy i consummated with your mother. and ur swinging on some magic players dick, yeah IM the tool

  • @vegetin01 no he is jus another john finkel great player with loads of luck behind him...

  • @vegetin01 This is wath you call luck, he had a 1 in 40 card shot that it would be that card and he was just lucky enough to get it. It has nothing to do with cheating.

  • @vegetin01 Heart of the Cards guided him

  • Wouldn't like half of nassif's deck at least buy him time to draw a big spell if not turn the game around?

  • The announcer's voice is really gay.

  • Additionally there's no point in getting into a debate about a better deck. B/W tokens did win 2 of them in this match.

In the end it's up to the player such as Jones and Nassif to practice and playtest the deck they want to play. The purpose getting an edge on their opponents with what you'd consider a complex deck or not.

  • i guess he believes in the heart of the cards LOL!!!!!

  • Two words , Nassif king

  • What do you expect it's standard. I sure Nassif would miss a combo like Sensei's Diving Top and Counter Balance. Too complex for great players like Nassif.

  • @Greatermaxim SDT causes tournament slow-play, the first card to get banned coz complex players like to abuse it by slow-playing, every mtg players except n00b knows the problem.

  • @twndomn But that's life for you. Da Rosa reported he played Top and Balance in a tournament. He also plays fae too. I think Rosa understands the game mechanics but I don't know how much of an innovator he is?

There's so many cards and magic players and so many possible outcomes. I'm not sure if my argument has a point. Like any game if you play to win you have to be prepared to lose.

  • thats called the pro draw, the ability to draw exactly what you need whenever you need it XD

  • i guess thats what they call destiny draw.

  • aaaaaannnnnnddddddd......... scoop

  • lol no its possible it happend to me in draft once i need to pull my one Mark of Mutiny and i arranged my mana like an ass and sure enough it was a Mark of Mutiny :P my inspiration was this video of course haha

  • I declare hax!!! No one is that lucky. He rearranged his lands perfectly. HAX!!!

  • @JeremyOrOmega Perhaps you didn't see him dodge five copies of Ignite Memories against Chapin, only to win with his own.

  • Heart of the Cards irl.

  • @Tehlozer1 i jizzed

  • Is Cruel Ultimatum or Cloudgoat Ranger the deck to play at the time?

  • there both pretty par allthough i believe cruel ultimatum takes the cake

  • For some reason, I feel like giving someone a wedgie after watching this video.

  • L0L DID YOU HEAR THEM SCREAM? L0L0L0L

  • lol. nice1

  • I love when Brian says

    "Gabriel Nassif ladies and gentlemen.

Must be nice to be that good at magic."

  • the best part is that he didn't even tap his mana the way he previously arranged when he played the actual spell

  • I would be so pissed if I was Matteo Orsini Jones

  • LOL luck protects the champions :P

  • well it is cruel.

  • WTF WAS THAT

  • that was a topdecked cruel ultimatum is what that was lol.

  • Just remember that this is before Alara Reborn came out. You cannot compare Standard decks made before a set comes out equally to decks made after a set comes out because new cards are introduced, therefore new strategies are made and new combos are used.

  • I don't know I gotta call bullshit on that one. If you watch Gabe draw he totally could have seen the card for a second. Either way I still think the Craig Jones - Lightning Helix off the top was better.

  • Helix off the top waaa---ay better by far.

  • Craig jones didn't need the helix. He was just hoping to get it to win. Not lose. If he drew a land he had one more turn to draw helix.

For Gabe it was draw cruel or go home. That was his last chance. He was dead if he drew anything else, and he drew it, came back, and won. This was the best top deck evar.

  • He could have drawn a cryptic command or something.

  • then he wouldn't have gained life like he needed to. He wouldn't have drawn three cards and got back a Broodmate. Cryptic commands says I live one more turn. Cruel ultimatum say I win.

  • Not true, post Char he was on 1 with a watch wolf, vs 2 raskula, token, hand of cruelty. the one card that wins the match is a helix or he dies, even another char is blank cause he was at 1.

  • @IdsFear Ruel was at 3 post char, meaning another char kills both of them at the same time, so they'd play a game 6 to decide a winner.

  • @IdsFear another char draws him the game so its hardly a blank

  • @CTastic1 what are your talking about? he had one blocker and 1 life.

  • @CTastic1 Craig was dead the next turn otherwise, the jitte had counters on it.

  • @98smithg umm, are we looking at the same video here?... PT-Kyoto '09. Format is Standard, which at the time did not include Jitte.

If it HAD been extended, though, I would give Orsini-Jones mad props for having the balls to run white weenie over zoo... :P

  • @nfinn42 I was replying to CTastic who was refering to the Craig Jones match, in reference to the top deck.

  • @98smithg which craig jones match? It can't have been at PT Kyoto '09, since that didn't involve any formats that included Jitte as a legal card. I'm curious now. :)

  • @nfinn42 ohh, nevermind. you mean Craig Jones's called shot in similar circumstances. Yeah, well, I agree with you, 98smithg. He had fewer outs than Nassif does above... Nassif could topdeck a Cryptic above and go tapout+bounce to buy a turn. As long as a deck with blue has Cryptics left to draw, there is always hope. (Unless the opponent is running Split Second. Then you just automatically lose to that bullshit.)

  • @nfinn42 If you youtube search 'top deck of the century' you should find it, its Pro Tour-Honolulu 06 semis.

  • I did not mean to insult you. I am just annoyed that every page people post the same question. Also, you said you knew how to play. if you do not, that is fine but understand that when you are wrong people will call you on it. Good luck with learning the skills of the game, and I hope you enjoy it.

  • it's really hard to get back from a Cruel Ultimatum.

  • This was the French revenge against the English for the top deck Lightning Helix at PT Honolulu ;)

  • wats better bant or esper

  • bant by far

  • Currently? Bant. No competition.

  • green white aggro is better

  • Creer en el topdeck es poder.

  • Here we have the ultimate birth control solution.

  • Here we have the reason birth control should be used.

  • That was sick!

I love Cruel Ultimatum; if it resolves, it can really turn a game around..

  • Comment removed

  • OH MY--Cruel Lighting Helix!

  • can someone help me here, i thought ultimatum had red in its cost thereby preventing orsini from having to sacrifice a forge-tender? it might not have red but i think it does

  • Protection simply prevents the forge-tender from being targeted, dealt damage, enchanted, equipped, or blocked by red sources, since the Ultimatum targets the player not the creature, the tender has to be sacked.

  • Comment removed

  • noob, learn to play...

  • i know how to play its just he couldda sacked the forge tender to prevent the dmg.

  • And lose both creatures. Nice.

  • I agree with bleach, please learn how to play before speaking. A card that says "prevent X damage" can do nothing against a source that specifically states "Player loses X life." Even if he could (and he can't), he would still lose both creatures to save 5 life (which would still be a difficult game after a ultimatum resolves) and not be able to respond to the threats that nassif just drew..

  • hey, im just starting to learn the game. playing for 2 months. THE REASON I ASKED WAS FOR PEOPLE TO HELP ME NOT INSULT ME! jesus, all the tournys ive been to people were alot nicer than you giving me advice. if you guys want your game to survive, your going to have to deal with noobs.

  • no he coulden't its loss of life can't be prevented by forgetender.. lern to play plxors

  • wow.. at least i have a life and dont say plxors... im asking a question.. im new to the game.. i would rather ask a question than be a fatty like you.

  • bleach, i know you have no life, and play magic all day constantly, but please. try to refrain from insulting normal people.

  • WOW, you KNOW i have no life and play magic all day constantly? thats pretty amazing since i don't even know you.... are you stalking me? who has no life now? asshole...

anyway, to secretspy1, i apologize for being kind of rude but really think about it, this is a pro event and they are surrounded by people who know the game extensively (except Randy Buehler, he is an idot), and protection is pretty basic rule to understand at that level. point is they know what they're doing.

  • expert

  • man I hate when cruel ultimatum is used against me, it pretty much turns the game around

  • not completely but it does screw you over pretty bad, ill say that.

  • heh, it does more than turn the game around, it wins the game....

  • Yeah tell me about it, I had three of them used against me in one match at the State Championships 2008 and it was the match that could have gotten me top 8 -_-

  • I can't believe he called that...that was freakin awesome!

  • lol, he was right in the interview: if it works, hell never be forgotten, if it doesnt...no one will remember. Great top deck, gotta love those tight spots just for the thrill.

  • Comment removed

  • Cruel Ultimatum doesn't do red damage. l2p

  • Comment removed

  • They cause loss of life. That's not the same thing as damage. can't prevent it with Tender.

  • I actually did this in FNM last week. My opponents at 4 and I'm at 6 and he's got a 4/4 figure and and a mogg and I've got no creatures and no cards. Game 3 for 1st place spot.

I drew the card facedown without looking at it. Arranged my mana for cruel. Flipped up the card onto the table and epic win :-D

  • Epic topdecking will now be known as "pulling a Nassif" :D

  • i hate guys like you

  • except... it's not

  • Amazing draw . . . but are the announcers gonna be okay?? lol

  • Now that's some topdecking skill. :)

  • You guys say it's luck; I say it was the Heart of the Cards.

  • I say you watch too many episodes of yu-gi-oh :P

    However nice idea ^^

  • Nassif doesn't draw he tutors :P ^^

  • I'm surprised this isn't as widely popular as Poker, all the movement involved certainly makes it more of a sport than 5 card stud!

  • heh, they used to show it on espn i guess, that would be interesting to see on sports center " today nassif rips his ultimatum just in time!" or something to that extent.

  • Yeah, it used to be on ESPN, except it was only on at 3 AM on the ocho.

  • it would have been funny if they played it prime time because all the sports fans would be "wtf is this shit??" lol

  • Form of Cruel Ultimatum.

  • that was the worst top deck I have ever seen! -_- omg dude. especially at a pro-tour!!!???

  • oh i misunderstood sorry

  • I'm mad Orsini-Jones was playing with pokemon sleeves.

  • and before that he was using DBZ cards as tokens. =P

But I'm not mad about it

  • Just like Craig Jones and that Lightning Helix :]

  • You are some kind of sorcerer.

  • bad ass top deck!

  • This just goes to show that Pro-Tour players don't actually have fun. If this happened when I was at the table (on either side) I'd be on the floor laughing. Neither of them even crack a smile.

  • Pressure, that's what keeps them in the seat. Also, being tense doesn't mean you're not enjoying yourself.

  • How much money are you playing for when you're at a table?

  • Well, the payout is based on your final standing. Nassif ended up winning $40K. 2nd (LSV) got $22K, 3rd gets $15K, 4th gets $14K, 5-8 get $10K-$11.5K, 9-16 get $3750-$7K.

There's also some form of a payout all the way down to 75th place.

  • i see smiles at 1:20 and 3:28

  • try smiling when your opponent just drew a card that cost you a potential $29000

  • the tourny that they were playing in. prize money.
