She was brave, difficult, inspired and one of the best artists of the 20th century. The biography of her life, "Collecting Souls, Gathering Dust, the struggles of two American artists Alice Neel and Rhoda Medary", by Gerald L. Belcher and Margaret L. Belcher, does a great job of taking the reader into her life and era. Paint on, strong women!

LOVE HER WORK! Have seen her work at National Gallery of Woman in the Arts. It really makes a difference to see the work live, instead of in an art book. Her nude of herself.. ROCKS! at like 80 years old! Thanks Alice!!!!

Yes! A wonderful artist, a feminist, a great role model for artists and especially women artists. Linda Nochlin is right on about her.
A concise and moving program. A fine DVD for students to see and discuss.
