What Maya said really bothers me. "Black peopl don't go to therapy. We go to church." God can do but so much...... I had a "Toni" in my life. I wanted to remain friends based on our history and good memories. All that shouldn't matter if they purposely hurt you. This show is too real.
Its like at times I liked Toni, then I couldn't stand her. Which is probably why I wasn't really sad that she left, because she was getting to be too damn much and way too selfish with her friendship with Joan. But I really do like Jill Marie Jones, she's a great actress. Whenever you have a really bad love/hate thing for a character, that means the actor is playing the hell out of the part.

She always let people know she was selfish, conceited, and a gold digger lol but thats what made Toni, Toni b/c she was proud of everything she was she didn't fake who she was at all, but Joan did let Toni get away w/ too much in their friendship it was like she didn't have a back bone w/ Toni like she did w/ Mya and Lynn

Like when she wanted to go back to school he didn't want her to, but he wanted Mya to help and support him in owing his own shop. That was str8 up wrong b/c Mya put her life on hold for her and he couldn't do one small thing for her like support her in going back to school all b/c he wanted to open a shop, but when they re married he supported her BIG TIME lol
omg. thank god u posted these. i love you. haha. loved this show. and i think it fell flat not because toni left, but because of the marketing. the network didnt sanction this show as a hit.
@OlucciArmani she left because the movies she was shooting at the time coincided with the last seasons of girlfriends...So she didnt really leave cuz of her will but because she HAD TO and even tho the show wasnt the same w/o her , i totally understand her decisions!
To me, and this is just my opinion, the show fell apart without Tony Childs. All of them are good but she was the center and nucleus of the show. The show tried to move Mia and William's wife into her place and it seems that they couldn't place Joan anywhere anymore. I felt bad but I still miss Girlfriends. I watched from the first to last episode.
@9876543217303 I don't think Toni was the center but the 4 of them together had a true believable bond it wouldn't have been the same w/o any of them b/c they all brought something to the show, and I didn't like Williams wife anyways but in true facts the show was falling apart before Toni left but then they ended up coming back for another season and thats when Jill (Toni) left b/c she wanted higher pay which I think that was plain stupid b/c their salary stayed the same and the others came bck
@9876543217303 It's not just you a lot of people feel that way, including me, every show needs a good villain, and good drama, not to mention that the story arc of joan and toni was never resolved it ended on a cliff hanger and then the writers just wrote her out, because jill marie jones was no longer apart of the show, so the show fell apart, a protagonist is only as strong as it's antagonist, and without that dynamic the show went down hill sadly.
