Miao is the name Chinese gave it to us Hmong or Mong people after they took over our homeland. Maio mean young seeds, to be percite young rice seeds after our ancestor Daxi or Naxi depend on how you want to spell it. Naxi was known for their argricultures such as farming. Even today Chinese barrow alot of crops name from the Hmong. Miao was giving to us meaning we're the young seeds or a branch of Naxi. Again Naxi was giving to them by Chinese. Chinese intended to seperate Hmong people but fail.

Miao is just like a huge group of different Hmong people. With different dialects and a bit of difference in clothings, etc. just like the Hmong groups in Laos. Some speak green, some speak white. some are consider Black Hmong, Stripe Hmong, and their clothes are a bit different. But it comes to a conclusion that they are ALL Hmong. How i see it, Miao in China is similar.

I just came back from china a month ago. I met some Hmong chinese the day before I return home. Some of them could talk to me in Hmong but some only understood a few words I said. Those who couldn't talk to me in Hmong could only say that they were Hmong Qeej which I've never heard before. What is Hmong Qeej? I know what Qeej is but Hmong Qeej, no no? I mean we have Hmong Dawb(white), Hmong Dub(black), Hmong Leng, Hmong Ntsuab(green) but Hmong Qeej is the first time I heard it.

Ayouduo is just like Mim Haam...they both are Hmong Suav or Hmong Chinese. Lets put it this way about their language...Since they are in China they speak mandarain for show and media purposes...but im pretty sure they just speak hmong when they are in their homes. Just because Ayouduo isnt singing in hmong doesnt mean she doesnt know how to speak hmong at all.

I cannot say she is hmong or not, but I am Hmong and my parents were Hmong from Laos, and I can tell you that the traditionnal clothes and the melodies are quite different from the tradionnal hmong songs. It's quite obvious none of you have really done any research on Hmong history, anthropology, or ethnography. From your ebonics laced postings, it's safe to conclude that few of you even went to college. If you did, you definitely didn't get your money's worth. For your information, linguistically, Hmong in the west speak two main dialects, Moob Dlawb and Moob Leeg. When you refer to striped Hmong or Black Hmong you're referring to subgroups delineated by geography not language. Get an education!

Look we Hmong-American don't even understand each other, and the funny is we all from Laos. GreenHmong don't even understand whiteHmong and the other way around. Two common dialects are White and Green. My mother is a RED HEADDRESS HMONG yet she told me my ancestors are BLACK HMONG. My dad is WHITE HMONG yet he also told me my ancestors are BLACK HMONG. we have intermix with so many different Miao groups that we are still able to break down what we are. The White Miao or Bai Miao came from Kwangtung aka Guangdong Province according to their folktale. All Miao groups somewhat speak quite differently in the past but because we have live among one another for some centuries, we begin to somewhat understand one another. Lie Ayouduo is Hmu (Hmu is a subgroup of the Miao Zu/Hmong in China in case some of the people reading this don't understand) so I believe she speaks the Eastern Miao dialect. Song Zuying speaks the Easterm dialect as well.
