  • I would highly recommend to the youngsters of today who are just starting to get a "Good ear"for real music that is both inspiring and that on can relate to.I remember my Mom playing a 78 of Vera.Who is practically unknown today.I have a double tape of her with White Cliffs of Dover and many other of her hits. She IN my opinion rates with the great female vocalist..Ella,Dinah W,Ethel W,Barbara,Patsy C....SAVE all your tapes and C D s kids this music never went away. Its Been here.Down with hip hop

  • This song I believe would bring a tear to any of our Brave fighting men, as it means as much today as in the 40`s. Vera Lynn does truly have an amazing voice and such great songs written then, means their Timeless Classics !

  • Just ,,THE VERY BEST EVER !!

  • Ok.Good point.jk

  • words won't justify it , so ill just say godbless from Jess -dog to our forces sweetheart xxx

  • A 1913 song called the Swiss Cradle song written by the AUSTRALIAN song writer,Clement Scott.Oioioi

  • @SuperJohnnykay HAHA love how you wrote "AUST" in BOLD letters must be because you know that it was actually New Zealanders (maoris at that) who put words to this piece otherwise no-one would have even heard of it to this day.

  • THIS IS BULLSHIT! the maori version is supposed to be included and is much better than the english version. i learnt this song in primary but the real version the maori one.

  • beautiful ,it touches the heart ,so sad and yet so sweet .the world is still the same ,someone saying farewell and waiting for those they love . to come home.god bless

  • vera lynn is the official song writer for new zealand. the ideas of courage overseas is perfect for us.

  • ANZAC! go the mighty all blacks!

  • My parents used to listen to this when I was a boy growing up. This is somewhat forgotten music but we cannot forget the time that she sang these songs to inspire the Soldiers against Nazi tyranny.

Vera was magnificent and her voice unique and unforgettable.

  • I'm not too familiar with this singer but by golly "She CAN SING!"

  • these are the ones that could SING--without phony electronics!!!

  • No it's not just you Lilandriel.

These singers could actually sing without being touched up by a computer.

Listen to the greats like Bing Crosby, Andrew Sisters, Gracie Feilds, Dean Martin etc & hear real singing.

  • @oswi50 I totally agree, which is why i only perform this genre of music. I want to bring it back, as best i can. No one can compare to Dame Vera Lynn. She's my idol. :-) xXx

  • so, so beautiful. is it just me, or were these old singers of a completely different caliber to most of what we have now? sigh...

  • Vera Lynn is magnificent. I can't think of another singer capable of conveying so much with what appears to be so little effort.

  • The best.....

  • Ein gutes Leid nw?. JessHund kann auch Deutsch. MFG Jessdog zweitausen zehn. Alles in Butterxxxxxxxxxx (und sonst gar nichts) x

  • I' ve just listened to a few versions of this. Including Our Gracie. This must be the Sweetest by far................................x jessdogx

  • Tolle Aufnahme. Von Dame Vera Lynn kannte ich das bisher noch nicht. Mehr davon.
