Place two portals on the ground.
Start bouncing through them, but only face one direction, don't fix yourself.
When you face the ceiling, right before you go through the portal shoot the one you're going through. This should launch you higher through the other portal than you should have gone.

You know the level where you get the orange portal gun?
At the end of the level, as always, there's a stastic field that removes items you try to bring with you. Use the energy ball (or kill in console?) to hit youself while standing inside the field. You will die from the hit and the corpse will spin around for a second or two while the camera view is at the ground.
It looked like you used noclip a bit at one part, but it doesn't matter cause it was just to show a glitch, noclip itself didn't help that much IMO just a measure not to fight with the contrls and gravity.
Noclip wasn't used to get inside the observation room though, right?
it's "etc" actually ("et cetera", from latin), not "ect".
