Ahh... I remember the good old days, when ign gave this +9.0 and it became editors choice and fighter of the year. Still play the old one, but the new one has undoubtedly better balanced characters (in my opinion) also i think the tiers only went down from a-c after the trinity update, which is really good.

i love the fluidity of this game. looks very fun. here's a cool fact about this game: did you know each character holds 100,000 animations. effort like that, the game is worth getting.

my favorite character is Rachel Alucard, a lady vampire with smart mouth,coz the way she insult everyone in the game is just so funny in story mode, well she's kind of unique coz she's like a trapper type that can set a trap while fighting, its fun to used her, only her super move is hard to connect,.....well u can change there voice to english and japanese.....i prefer rachel in english coz she's sound's good on it, compared to japanese which she sound like an old lady...

Guys here should agree that fighting games rock, and other gametypes suck... and should stop comparing 3d fighting games like tekken or vf, to sf, blazblue, gg.... it's totally another world... imagine how much crossup you do in a street fighter game, and in a tekken or virtua fighter game.... just imagine.... I somehow only found out it even existed today after looking to see what Guilty Gear games are around now and pre-ordered it within 10 minutes (no UK release until 2010).
Is Tekken fun? From what i played Hell yes but i find that spruced up graphics wouldn't change a thing. Framerates... MAYBE.. but it's really a problem that... if i were to take the graphics and replace them with the original psone graphics people would not like the same game anymore.

sales numbers are a poor determinant on how awesome a game is. It goes without saying that tekken is one of the most kick ass fighting game series ever(Tekken 2 forever). Guilty gear is also commemorated as one of the most kick ass fighting game series(Blazblue and GG = same devs). But maybe you should pull Tekken's dick out of your mouth and try some different styles before you go pounding on other titles

FPS are quite good, if well done (Halo, Crysis etc) but I love fighting games, especially if technical / artistic like Dead or Alive 4, Super Street Fighter IV, KOF XIII. I've been in love with fighting games since Kung Fu Master and Double Dragon...
Street Fighter EX plus Alpha on the PS1 is better than SF4 imo. SF4 is overrated becos its Street Fighter, even though ppl who dont like EX which is superior and is 2.5D like. it has better characters (kairi, Skullomania, Garuda, Hokuto etc) better music (strange sunset, Gaurdian Light etc) and more modes of play other than online. Now imo Blazblue is better than SF4 becos its system is far superior and more challenging than SF4. But my favourite 2D fighter is Ark's Guilty Gear :)

So i bought this game for Ps3 and i love it, the only problem is the damn buttons are A, B, C, and D, how the hell am i supposed to play whith a controller that has X, Squar, Triangle, and Circle? Please assist.
Don't worry, there was recently an update for the game to allow several control changes to be used- as such the game is now playable on the Dreamcast controller with the A and B buttons compatible with the game along with D being mapped to the D-Pad and the C button mapped to screaming at the controller's VMU display.

no, you'll be find just with a pad. I use pad and I got to level 40 online. The only characters I would say you might need a stick is tager cuz of the 360 movements, arakune, and litichi I believe. but everyone else u can use pad. the hardest 1 will be takokaka thats all
if a gamepad is really well done (as the one sold with the Sega Saturn was) I can do everything a SNK / Capcom combat game requires. For the PS3 / 360 the madcatz fighter pad is a good choice.
seriously there should be bashing of 3d fighting games out here that take very little skill to play like Soul caliber 4 ,Tekken 6,Virtua fighter those games should be bashed not games that take skill like SF4 or BB cmon people.

I won't deny it's very masher-friendly, but anyone who has any sort of an idea what they are doing in that game would have no trouble beating a masher.
Virtua Fighter is, by far, the most skill-intensive fighter that exists. I don't even like the game, I'd much rather play a 2d fighter. But the fact remains that VF requires incredibly precise timing
wtf. Those take skill my friend, more skill then these as you have a wider environment and theres more movement, so you have to predict moves correctly. 2D fighters are still skillful, but you can do well by just button bashing. Games that rely on special moves alot, for example Mortal Kombat, are much less skillful then any, but mortal kombat is by far the most fun for me to play, because i'm not the best person when it comes to fighting games and MK is fun. But people can still be beast at MK.
man it really suck to see this fighting between Blazblue fans and SF4 fans since i love both games very dearily i rater not see the b.s comments. because each game has its own awssomness to display both are complex and deep fighting games but i havent played Blazblue long enough to realize its true potential yet this will probably take along time and SF4 im still not the greatest at that either so .

This game isnt even in the same class as Street Fighter. It looks like a souped up version of The king of fighters 99, which also is better than this. This will never compete wit SF,KOF or Tekken. Overall: FAIL

I think you're over-generalizing. There are quite a few of us who like both games, for different reasons. yes, some of SF4's characters have VERY similar moves (akuma, gouken, ryu, ken.etc.), however - each are still played very differently (akuma is a ranged cross-up, ryu is a ranged specialist, ken is more combat savvy and gouken is a technical pyro). Even tho parry was taken out - Focus attacks opens up many more possibilities.
Further to my post below, I also think that Blazblue has it's own pros and cons. For one, it's an incredibly gorgeous games, the ridiculously ludicrous combos are actually very appealing and the effects are beautiful. However, saying one is better over the other is a faux-pas. It comes down to personal opinion - they both have their merits. I prefer the more advanced higher play of SF4, but I also like the need to be on the ball once you start a combo in BlazBlue. Again, both have their merit :)
sf4 is nothing but blanka faggots and dragon punch spammers. its good when u actually get someone who does combos and not grab like a whore or spam projectiles. from what i see this game is more equal and combo friendly.

alrdd, couldnt have said it better. If you didnt know blanka can be "tapped" out of his rolls with LP besides I main Balrog & Vega, their moves go through projectiles, no need for projectiles. If you have any kind of skill you can get past "spammers" this game SUCKS period. SFIV FTW. Blazmugen can suck a dick

Street fighter IV is plain and played out. Online the people just do the same thing over and over and over. Not too many original styles. It takes a bit more skill to pull off some of the things in blazblue, although blazblue happens to be more combo friendly.
Also another reason I like Blazblue better, Much better counter system.
The reason you gave to not buy it because it doesn't seem deep with 12 characters and no unlockables besides art. The videos are awesome but anyways, this is probably the finest tuned deep fighter game to come out yet. Passing sf4 by far. So if you actually play enough to get into the depth, yeah, it's amazing.

You wouldn't know if it's worth $60 cos you havent played it. I can tell you now it's very much worth 60, all the fighters are incredibly unique and the depth is unfathomable. I would rather have 12 characters than 24, 10 of which being clones. Seriously, play the game, and realize the depth to each character is amazing. Plus, with a smaller roster it's easier to make a game balanced.

seriously there should be bashing of 3d fighting games out here that take very little skill to play like Soul caliber 4 ,Tekken 6,Virtua fighter those games should be bashed not games that take skill like SF4 or BB cmon people.

Virtua Fighter is, by far, the most skill-intensive fighter that exists. I don't even like the game, I'd much rather play a 2d fighter. But the fact remains that VF requires incredibly precise timing

Not really, the SF4, BB, GG and the "old" style games are based more on button pressing speed than anything else.
3D fighters tend to be slower, less masher-friendly, and more based on mind-games.

wtf. Those take skill my friend, more skill then these as you have a wider environment and theres more movement, so you have to predict moves correctly. 2D fighters are still skillful, but you can do well by just button bashing. Games that rely on special moves alot, for example Mortal Kombat, are much less skillful then any, but mortal kombat is by far the most fun for me to play, because i'm not the best person when it comes to fighting games and MK is fun. But people can still be beast at MK.

man it really suck to see this fighting between Blazblue fans and SF4 fans since i love both games very dearily i rater not see the b.s comments. because each game has its own awssomness to display both are complex and deep fighting games but i havent played Blazblue long enough to realize its true potential yet this will probably take along time and SF4 im still not the greatest at that either so .

This game isnt even in the same class as Street Fighter. It looks like a souped up version of The king of fighters 99, which also is better than this. This will never compete wit SF,KOF or Tekken. Overall: FAIL

nothing ppl are crying that this game takes more strategy to play then SF4 where 7 characters have the same combo's n since the pary system is taken out. SF is just full of fucking fan boys n clearly they forgot about one of the most legendary 2d fighters called Guilty Gear, n noobs r saying the this game looks like shitty MUGEN, when it clearly looks like Guilty Gear X

I think you're over-generalizing. There are quite a few of us who like both games, for different reasons. yes, some of SF4's characters have VERY similar moves (akuma, gouken, ryu, ken.etc.), however - each are still played very differently (akuma is a ranged cross-up, ryu is a ranged specialist, ken is more combat savvy and gouken is a technical pyro). Even tho parry was taken out - Focus attacks opens up many more possibilities.

Further to my post below, I also think that Blazblue has it's own pros and cons. For one, it's an incredibly gorgeous games, the ridiculously ludicrous combos are actually very appealing and the effects are beautiful. However, saying one is better over the other is a faux-pas. It comes down to personal opinion - they both have their merits. I prefer the more advanced higher play of SF4, but I also like the need to be on the ball once you start a combo in BlazBlue. Again, both have their merit :)

alrdd, couldnt have said it better. If you didnt know blanka can be "tapped" out of his rolls with LP besides I main Balrog & Vega, their moves go through projectiles, no need for projectiles. If you have any kind of skill you can get past "spammers" this game SUCKS period. SFIV FTW. Blazmugen can suck a dick

Street fighter IV is plain and played out. Online the people just do the same thing over and over and over. Not too many original styles. It takes a bit more skill to pull off some of the things in blazblue, although blazblue happens to be more combo friendly.
Also another reason I like Blazblue better, Much better counter system.

The reason you gave to not buy it because it doesn't seem deep with 12 characters and no unlockables besides art. The videos are awesome but anyways, this is probably the finest tuned deep fighter game to come out yet. Passing sf4 by far. So if you actually play enough to get into the depth, yeah, it's amazing.

You wouldn't know if it's worth $60 cos you havent played it. I can tell you now it's very much worth 60, all the fighters are incredibly unique and the depth is unfathomable. I would rather have 12 characters than 24, 10 of which being clones. Seriously, play the game, and realize the depth to each character is amazing. Plus, with a smaller roster it's easier to make a game balanced.
