For the down throw chain, what exactly is the timing on the z button for the backwards throw to nana? Do u want to hit z as fast as u can right after you press back on the joystick?
@soulcalibrll wats ur name, and yeah, lol, ur chaingrab looked perfect from start to finish. lain and chu dat lets go after a couple shots when teh opponents health is low.but u took a 0% to ko. thts why i thought u were better.
@mrpepsidrink Most pros won't get a grab at 0%, and if they do the opponent expects it. Brawl is extremely broken with the grab system, and with a click or two of the buttons you can break out of grabs when you have less than 40%. Only under certain situations is a 0->death grab even possible. Since I wasnt playing against anyone when recording, the 2nd player doesn't have the ability to break out of grabs. Even at about 80% a player can break out of grabs if the IC player isn't fast enough.
@mrpepsidrink Haha, you can't judge that by a tutorial video. I assure you Lain and Chudat are far better than me. I played in MLG Dallas and lost to Lain (IC v IC battle too)

with the dthrow chain at 2.04, the first back throw tends to be really inconsistent because nana likes to slide a lot. I know you say "hold right on the joystick" but when exactly do i let go? I've done it before, but i can only chain that whole thing 3/4 times and it's always the bthrow that gets me.
@PrintedNintendo If your opponent Directional Influences well enough, they can survive that tactic. It is recommended that once you grab them to just do a chain grab till they are at KO percentage.
@zeldazoneman I would suggest starting against Game&Watch since he is the easiest to grab. The 'after shockwave' is relative, and depends on your opponent, as each character requires different timing. It is all about practice bud; it'll take you about a month to learn the grabs, and another 1-2 to get them perfect.
@windkai In professional play now however, a lot of pros "plank", which basically means they avoid fighting completely, or they stay on platforms to avoid being grabbed. Also, a lot of Pit, Zero Suit, and Falco players stay away by firing projectiles. That's why you rarely see Ice Climber players win tournaments.
@soulcalibrII lol i realise this but i can never seem to find any videos on it, because everyone uses gamecube controllers im hoping to get one soon with any luck
@spiderman19977 The key to understanding desynched IC dynamics is to be aware that the "helper" Climber delays a bit before responding to your inputs. That's why they don't respond to your inputs at the same time when they're in sync.
@spiderman19977 Trust me, it took me about a solid month of practice to get it down. You need to learn the physics of how the Climbers move when they do grabs, pivot grabs, etc. Even now, after about a year of practice, I still miss grabs. Try practicing on Game and Watch; he is the easiest character to chaingrab with.
I'm so glad I found this vid! This has helped me sooooooooooooo much with my chaingrabbing. Thanks for such a kick ass and extremely helpful vid! ICE CLIMBERS FOREVER!!!
wow amazing video, I had looked at several tutorial videos on IC CG, but this is the best by far, great job man, looks like a lot of effort went into this. (this vid should seriously have more views)
You should note that it is possible to downthrow cg on platforms by buffering the dthrow. Also Bthrow hobbling is more common and easier than fthrow hobbling.
@soulcalibrII When doing the back throw to dthrow cg on the platform after the backthrow if you input the dthrow within 10 frames before the move ends it will buffer the platform and nana will not fall through. I'll try to find a match of mine showing you.
Wow, great tutorial. Well done, and informative. I'mma start usin' that when I play Ice Climbers. All I did for combos for Ice Climbers was spike people and have one hold a homerun bat and the other hold a pitfall. Anyway, nice job. :D
