If an effective nationwide boycott of BP were arranged and worked as planned, the franchise owners of BP gas stations and convenience stores would loose business and would start laying off workers or even closing all together. This would have very little effect on BP's bottom line and they would simply sell their excess crude to Exxon/Mobile or Shell. YEA! BP should pay for what has happened, and they are. Oil from all drilling companies is mixed at refineries and sold to any other retailer. So no one knows if you are getting 100% BP or 50% Exxon 50%Shell or a mix of many. If an effective nationwide boycott of BP were arranged and worked as planned, the franchise owners of BP gas stations and convenience stores would loose business and would start laying off workers or even closing all together. This would have very little effect on BP's bottom line and they would simply sell their excess crude to Exxon/Mobile or Shell. YEA! BP should pay for what has happened, and they are. They took full responisbilty. Their not going to lose money because of the boycott.

Tree huggers, hippes and douche bags boycott all you want it's a waste of time. Most BP stations (like most gas stations are independent, they just sell under the BP logo. Oil from all drilling companies is mixed at refineries and sold to any other retailer. So no one knows if you are getting 100% BP or 50% Exxon 50%Shell or a mix of many. BP make hardly anything from fuel stations.

Why, then, bother putting their name and logo up? Have you not heard of setting a precedent in law? Yes, oil is controlled by OPEC, but if no indiv. co's made $, they would not exist. Let BP be made an example of what we consumers can do if you have such blatant disregard for life on this planet.

@TheCaracaras its cheap advertising for BP to use its name on stations. Do you forget all the US companies that were involved??Transocean (US company) who owned and operated the rig or Halliburton(US company) who cemented the well, or Cameron International (US) who built the BOP which failed BP just owned the well....Also OPEC does not control oil like it used to with more and more coming from Russia and of course USA is not in OPEC but they are in bed with them as they need oil sold in dollars

If you want to boycott BP they sell to airlines (so don't get on a plane) plastic companies (don't use plastics) and don't use any fuels because it may be mixed with BP fuel and you will never know, as we know Transocean owned the FAILED rig BP just own the rights.

You dont get shit in the way of compensation, you will end up with the bill, oil not cleaned up and BP will sell the oil you need to the China or any other country. yes BP wont be in the US but there are plenty of people that need oil. Whether you buy gas from BP , Chevron , ExonMobil or another source , you support evil . Chevron has caused more animal extinctions than all other human activity combined in their deforresting of Ecuador . We need to get off oil . There is only another 20 years of oil left anyway . I buy gas from Citgo because it is the lesser of many evils . I know I need to do more to reduce my own oil use , I am now looking in to getting a "grease car".

Whatever your contractors do - Halliburton, Transocean - you are responsible for. In that it appears as though they were rushing things, removing drilling muds to save time. NOTHING seen in this report makes me rethink a boycott of bp - until there is no more bp. Nothing

1. boycotting BP wont hurt them as much as gen public thinks because the other gas companys will buy it from BP.
2. BPs largest profits are not from auto indestry its from the by products.
3.Most BP gas stations are priv. owned so people not useing them is going to hurt not just the ones working in them but the economy in gen.
I am just as pissed off as you are about the spill but nothing like this has happened before.....next page

BP is just selling BP gas to stations like QT, Shell, and all the rest.
They are taking a loss but only $10.00-$30.00 a barrel not enuff to bankrupt them or even get the bonus's down.

So the indestry isnt perfect but no one wanted to boycott coal when the mine killed those men, so im wondering why this time?
Boycotting wont help get the oil cleaned up and it wont help our already screwed up economy.
If you can tell me how boycotting WILL help these things maybe I'll change my mind but i havent heard anything yet.

While you're feeling sorry for these small businesses, just remember that the very next time a disaster hits the Gulf Coast, the oil spill notwithstanding, these bastards will break their necks running out to their price signs so they can jack up the price of the oil they already have in their tanks. They don't give a crap about gutting your family's resources, so why should we care about them?
