The first shooter ive played that had the cover system was ROGUE TROOPER and KILLSWITCH...both for PS2.

One thing that anoys me is that if a game has a cover system.... OMG ITS COPYING GEARS. No it isnt. Its an aspect gears used... was used long b4 gears. And since cod4, halo 3 and gears all games are compared to them. i understand they are considered the best but everything isnt copying them!!!!

I don't think the level design is even close to gears of war, and the environments are very repetitive, the story also lacks imop as well. That said the Glave is freaking amazing and makes the game worth playing alone, but to say it's better then gears or even as good is a bit of a stretch.

In all honesty, Gears of War defines repetition. DUCK, SHOOT, DUCK SHOOT and the occasional chainsaw, but thats about it. Im sorry to offend you by saying this, but the first gears has nothing on this game in terms of story and gameplay only. of course the second gears is better than DrkSectr cause it was made aftr and expanded upon. This game has potential. Calling this a gears of war rip off is an understatement, seriously.

However I have played both games and imop both the level design and plot are better in gears. I still think dark sector is a great game I just don't think it quite matches up to gears.

first of all, there isnt a fucking demo for this game. Second of all, this game is a decent game. The gameplay is solid, graphics are awesome and the glaive takes it to a whole new level. This game is action packed and deserves at least a 7/10. I'd give it a 8.

D3 really dropped the ball ONLY on what they previously promised when the game was in development...I recently read the NOVEMBER 06 issue of Game Informer with an extensive article on Dark, and honestly, they boasted a TON of things that are not in the final version 2 years later....I mean, c'mon. I love gamevideos way of previewing and reviewing games, where rather than just have one person telling you their opinions about it as footage plays, a group of people debate the various points. I also love the humor that comes out of just having friends and colleagues talking together is much better than the scripted schlock that usually comes out of review videos. i think dleighuk said it best when he said just cause gears of war uses a cover system that means nobody else can he's right it would be a sad state of affairs. Most ideas have been taken up already all you can do is remake it and try to do it better so. im just pissed the level designs werent as varied. there were really good levels like cemetery and cathedral but about later on in the game they just give u dull industrial warehouses rail road tracks and etc. the enemies, some of them were very uninspired, i.e. some of the zombies were so plain.

the cover system idea has been out since Nintendo 64. Games like winback was focused on the cover system. Also, GRAW had a very realistic cover system.

MGS has always had a cover system, so in effect Gears never invented it. Not so groundbreaking afterall.
