I can understand why the Lion had to be shot sadly, but i also understand why it upsets people. These are wild animals, and should not be kept in captivity period. At the end of the day the keeper was in that cage with a wild animal, which basically did what comes natural to it. There is no concious thought from a wild animal, it is instinct. And as a result it was killed. So yes, i do have little sympathy for those injured when working, keeping these animals captive.

There was no animal cruelty involved, although the trainer in this video was somewhat callous in misunderstanding the mood of the lion on that particular day. The guy in the cage had some business there and had no problems before.
But this time the lions acted out of the norm.
The guy outside the cage kept the lion busy for 45 minutes while others tried get a stun gun but for some reason they couldn't get one?
Then the lion suddenly went for the man and their last resort was to kill the lion.
The man survived.
