This is the 1963-'64 opening title. That's "Dr. Zorba" [Sam Jaffe] drawing and describing the "life cycle" at the start. Originally, an announcer added at :38, "'BEN CASEY'- brought to you by....{insert two or three sponsor I.D.'s here}".
One of the best opening credits and TV themes from the era, with possibly the sole exception of Bonanza. This was a fine show as well. One of the few times when Vince Edwards played a good character, and not the evil bad guy.
Did you know Bo Jackson's mother loved this show so much, she named her famous son after Vincent Edwards?

I used to watch this & Dr. Kildare (Richard Chamberlin) as a kid, even drawing the opening symbols on my blackboard. Ah, those were the days.
