Over half the tickets sold were americans in attendance, which means that there were just 30 thousand non americans who came to see nfl gridiron players in girly body armour and most of them only did out of curiousity to see what this low-profile sport is. Plus the players get breathers and get to regain their stamina between plays. So NFL is like a head on collision at 60 mph instead of a sideswipe at 30mph which would be Rugby. The reason why football players wear pads is because momentum. The Middle linebacker which can be around 300 to 350 pounds can run at a running back around 200 lbs at full momentum with a hard helmet and stop him in his tracks. Sorta like if a car is sideswiped the person won't die, like how most rugby tackles aren't strait on with full momentum. And a lot of tackles in the NFL are like a head on colision where a ton many people die because of the momentum of the two cars coliding head on.

Having played both American Football and Rugby you really cant compare the 2 sports.
